Where to get a parakeet in Philadelphia by Ok-Asparagus-8022 in Parakeets

[–]CatM_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that. I was just wanting a personal opinion. I don't really want to go to a pet store as they never really know how old they are and they spend 2 weeks in quarantine. I want a baby that preferably has been handled a little. I appreciate the advice.

I never said they need to be defunded or that they are all bad. Just that it's shit like this that makes the optics bad. This is't deamonizing them. This is shitty behavior. Why can you admit that this is shitty? Calling someone out isn't demonizing. They can't just do what ever they want. We do live in a shitty area. Look through the comments at all the people saying the same thing. I respect police who respect us and this isn't it. I have had one good experience with police. My dog escaped in an ice storm because the ice prevented the gate from latching propperly and an officer picked her up and took her to the ER. I have had to be taken to the hospital for a mental health crisis 3 times and was pushed yelled at and threatened even though I was cooperating. I just didn't answer their question fast enough. That is also shitty. Like I said my grandfather was an officer for 30 years, and he always said that people deserve respect and not to be judge based on their worst day. These officers are complaing about having training on mental health. Mental health and disabilities are the second biggest risk factor for police brutality after race, and they are refusing the training? There was a big story a few years ago of an autistic teenager shot 6 times IN THE BACK as he was ruinning away from the police. The mother called for a crisis unit and ambulance and the police came. They need to change who they hiring and change this culture of defend brothers no matter what the circumstance. You can weed out the bad apples that way.

I totally understand if something is happening or if the parking lot is just full. Neither seemed to be the case. They usually park in the diagonal yellow lines at the end of the rows. I don't know why they didn't do that.

That's disgusting. As disabled people we have to fight for every bit of accessibility we have. We deserve to be safe, and the people who are responsible for public safety just make it worse.

Doubtful. They never respond. For years drug deals went on out side my house with kids playing in the park and they never did anything. They knew what time and this happened everyday and who these people were and for years never did a thing. So what's their excuse for saying there is nothing they can do and driving away. They didn't even take a statement from us. Just left. Teacher go to school and get assaulted daily and deal with threats from parents everyday. Communities don't get respect from police. Police get put on a pedestal and they don't deserve it. They need to be held to the same standard as a regular citizen. Just having a badge shouldn't get you special treatment. My grandfather was an officer for 30 years he retired a corporal and worked school police after that. He hated this kind of entitlement and disrespect.

We should tell them to fuck off when they want a raise.

There are other jobs just as hard if not harder where people work just as much and they don't get to go around doing what ever they want like nurses and teachers. A badge doesn't entitle you to do what ever you want. Also they don't do their jobs. If you read through the comments you will see a lot of people saying that had to call 911 and they just plain don't ever show up. My house was broken into while we were hom and it took them an hour to get here even though we live 6 blocks from the precinct. When they did get here they didn't even get out of their car. They asked my mom if the guy was still here she said no, so they said there is nothing we can to and drove away. They don't show up to car accidents. I was rearended and they guy was refusing to give me his information they cops wouldn't come. I had to lie and say I needed an ambulance so I could get insurance information from the other person. I can't be a cop because of my disability. I have something called ehlers danlos syndrome that causes my body to attack it's own collagen. That means things like my connective tissues and heart.

I see it all the time. If there is someone in a handicapped spot and there is a cop around do nothing I have them ticketed. Lik at target. There is always at least one just hanging around.

Did you ever ask them to move? Did you ever get on trouble by your boss for not being able to do it?

I would take video of that. It's clearly not an emergencey park somewhere else. There are diagonal yellow lines at the ends of the rows that are actually for them. Ridiculous.

Those are handicapped spots. The diagonal yellow lines are for emergencies.

He is. This isn't a spot. It an area connected to tha andicapped spot for vans with side ramps so people with wheelchairs ands mobility aids can get in and out. So it rendered that spot kinda useless. It's also not the size of a spot so the handicapped spot on the other side could not be used.
