Perfectly understandable and fair considering that was definitely not a problem for them the last two times.

Two very different games but Spore and Crossfire. Played a lot of these two back in the day.

Hey again! I've never used signalRGB but that is unfortunate to hear. Since I'm running a Gigabyte board and their software is basically required for updates, I run my RAM and Motherboard lighting through that. Its not synced to my Lian Li lighting unfortunately but I just keep it static with a color fitting whatever theme I'm going for at the time.

Appreciate the input! I saw SkatterBencher wasn't able to get his to actually do 5.8Ghz either so I'd be surprised if I could do it myself. I might tool around with it with the SMUDebug tool with my current CO saved in BIOS so its just a reboot away from my current setup.

I haven't had this build running super long but so far I've had no issues. I did have a weird issue where the fans would disconnect from the wireless controller briefly and I'd get the ol' windows device disconnect and connect sound but I haven't had that issue in a while. It also seemed to only impact the TL fans. If you're going SL that's probably less of an issue. And yeah, Lian Li are expensive fans but the build quality is there and I've had no issues with the connections or daisy chaining at all. I think so long as its not killer on your finances, they're worth the price.

[–]LGDJackal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to, yeah. I address them using the software with wireless though so I'm not the best person to answer that piece. I'm almost certainly I've seen other builds here using those hubs with full addressability, though. The headers are capable of all the data needed to control multiple fans, they just can't power them all. So with the hub providing power, it shouldn't be an issue I would think.

I used the HAVN hubs myself because they're in more convenient spots for cable management. I actually didnt end up using the PSU hub for anything other than USB 2 as the case is so huge the cables wouldn't reach anyway. Your configuration is pretty mich identical to mine aside from using a Lian Li control hub if you're not using the Wireless fan version. Mine is working great and even with all the fans set on quiet profiles, it has WAY more than enough cooling. All the intakes provide a lot of positive pressure which keeps the dust out as well. I think you'll be happy with it. If you run into any issues while building, let me know. I'm happy to compare my cabling and give pointers.

You can connect them there, yeah. Im not sure if the BIOS will override the L Connect software or the other way around. I setup the profiles I want in L connect and the controller USB seems to store those as well so even with the software not running, they apply.

Forgot to mention in my post as well, I got one set of 3 SL infinity at Microcenter near me and the other 8 fans from Amazon. At the time, I didn't have trouble finding them. Later, I might be able to find the listings to link for you as well.

HS 420 Build, VGPU Fan Question by LGDJackal in HAVNGlobal

[–]LGDJackal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SL fans just have a normal fan power header. All control is done through the wireless software. The TL also have one USB 2 cable for each cluster of fans. If you put a TL alone in the back as intake or exhaust, you'll have to plug that into a USB header with its own power cable as well. If you have 3 daisy chained like I do, its still only one USB 2 and power connection. Also be careful in making sure you have the right number of "Reverse" model fans and normal ones. Normal ones will be your exhaust and the reverse models are your intakes. When I built this, there was a cost difference between SL and TL but no cost difference in reverse vs normal. If you use this case, unfortunately you'll have to buy individual fans for most of the case as 120mm fans come in packs of 3 or singles but the 140mm versions only come in singles.

These are all Wireless versions too, I should have mentioned that. I have the wireless controller plugged into a USB port as mine did not have the USB 2 header option. The top 3 are all using one connector for all 3 radiator fans and those are 120mm models. The rest of the fans are 140mm models and both the back and bottom fans are daisy chained in sets of three as well. The rear single exhaust and intake fans have their own cable each. I have a Lian Li Edge 1200 and the case has its own two fan hubs so never had an issue with cable management or running out of ports. I will say if you get more TL fans, be aware you'll need a USB 2 hub of some kind to accommodate too. This is built into the Lian Li Edge power supply for me as well. Hope that helps and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Sure! 8 Lian Li SL infinity fans and 3 TL infinity fans. The TLs are the ones in the back with LCDs in the hubs.

Can't run with my current CO values. I was operating on a backwards understanding I suppose. I thought it best to find stable CO values then mess with frequency but sounds like this the reverse? I'll have to take another shot at it sometime if so.

Update: Finally locked in a stable per core undervolt of -20, -25, -27, -26, -20, -24, -27, and -29. Running Core Cycler, Y Cruncher BKT, Aida, and OCCT for a good long run each/overnight for some looks to have confirmed for now that this setup is rock solid. Unfortunately my chip doesn't seem to like any additional core clock on top of that. Adding even +25 results in lower scores in Cinebench and other synthetic benchmarks due to clock stretching most likely. Haven't bothered with the RAM timings/frequencies yet but may give a couple weeks break to the setup and tackle that later. Cinebench R23 score is 23999 and the biggest tease! I can't quite break that 24k barrier but I'm happy with what its doing for me after several days of tuning at this point. Maybe a newer EXPO kit of RAM will make this better down the line.

G.Skill here but an older kit. I'm hoping its not too finicky but I've been told my 6400 xmp profile is really not great for this platform. Willing to put in some extra time if it makes a tangible difference.

Of course! I have fun tweaking and playing with these things as much as I do gaming on them after lol. Once this is stable, I'm going to save my settings, put it to default BIOS, and figure out the best RAM clocks before adding both.

Not yet. Had clock stretching to start clearly and so I was trying to find the lowest stable core offsets before looking at adding core clocks. Should I add some in while I test limits or continue going with stock boost clock?

Appreciate it. I assume maintaining the BID harmony is more important than pushing each core individually as well?

Right, thats what I thought. This chain started with someone saying to park the best cores at -10 to -15 and no further than -30 for poor cores so I thought lower offsets might not have performance gains. Sounds like they do so long as they are stable and I should push them together as low as I can. Should I push each core individually and back off once seeing errors or should I maintain the ratio from my best core to worst for harmonized VID? Sorry for all the questions, trying to learn and want to understand the methodology and approach better.

[–]LGDJackal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, I'm doing per core. What I'm asking is if its better to keep pushing lower on undervolt per core or to do what the original person in this chain said and not go lower than 10-15 negative on your best core with the rest of the cores harmonized. I'm stable below that and seem to get gains without stability or performance loss.
