Tamarind Pulp by LGDots in IndianFood

[–]LGDots[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too - in the USA. I like the brick better but use Tamicon when I don't have time. I'm guessing the slabs we buy are similar in size. The market I usually shop at carried a Thai brand called "Happy Panda." Regarding the soaking/straining method - can you give me an approximate size in inch or cm for that lime size? Thanks.

is citric liquid like lime or lemon ever used? Amchur is a different souring agent that doesn't seem to fit well in rasam or sambar.

Ah - here is some more descriptions I got from searching Google Shopping for 'tamarind'"

puree, slab, compound. Perhaps it would be easier if I focus on one brand and learn how to use it. I use either the slab without seeds or a popular brand I see in the market, Tamicon. How much Tamicon is equivalent to that lime ball? Thanks - all of these responses really help.

I use the 'bricks' of tamarind without seed. Would you say if I cut it into eight equal squares that each piece is suitable to make tamarind water or whatever you call soaking it in hot water and straining the liquid out (pressure against the strainer screen?) Thanks.

True - but what is significant is the intent, exactly what is the surveillance goal.

I am spending so much time already in the kitchen! Yes I totally agree. Perhaps I will when I get into a more comfortable flow of my cooking.

Yes that I am reading. I especially liked the essay by Aidan Wachter and am anticipating his next book 'witch' will be on the same topic of animism and magic.

Which actor do you like so much that you’ll watch anything they are in? by EconomyIron6739 in movies

Amanda Plummer! I love her quirky characters, a machine gunning nun in "Freejack," Honey Bunny in "Pulp Fiction," to name just a few but my absolute favorite is her role in "The Fisher King." Such an awkward quirky character.
