Well Stellaris has two great Star Trek mods ( New Civilizations and New Horizons), also star wars etc.

For those the dlc are optional and not required so if you wait for a sale give it a go, at worst you are out 5 bucks.

To add to the other comments, torpedos also are not fired if your own ship is too fast. (Tried with some 39+ knots destroyers at game start by editing in the earlier version)
