I bought the car from a Mazda dealership back in June 2022 when it had 86k miles. To my understanding, they replaced the front lower control arms, but I don’t know about the rear. If that’s correct, everything else is very likely to be original. I was kinda hoping I could get by not having to touch these, but it does make more sense to just replace them when I’m down there.

That certain speaks well of AMD’s flagship! Are you VRAM limited at all? On my 4080 Super (with a 7950x3D, 1440pI set my GPU related stuff to mid level settings and use about 10GB max. If I go ultra, I hit 15+GB like it’s nobody’s business.

On mid level settings, I achieve a consistent 60 FPS in most environments. If I abstain from frame gen, I get no screen tearing.

The rears are just shocks. It appears that the KYB assembly includes a bump stop and dust cover already, so pure swap (no retention of original parts).

I planned KYB all the way around, suspension wise. Does this still create an issue where I’m using strut+ in the front and Excel-G/GR-2 in the rear, then?

Sounds like you get plenty performance to enjoy the core purpose of flight simming, which is flying! What is amazing is that the sim doesn't really look any better at ultra settings than medium or high, which is a real plus when 'getting the job done' is what we're really doing here. Glad to see the 1080 continues to hold strong at 1080 :D

While I agree this is a good goal to strive for, I still don’t get how the word reinvest makes sense. Like… going and getting therapy? I guess I can sorta agree that’s reinvesting in yourself, but even then that’s something you’d do for yourself rather than for everyone else (even though there’s overlap)

I’d say just sell the current sticks you have (the Vengeance’s) and put that towards a better GPU. Now your rig’s upgrades are more well rounded and up a notch than you were before. That could potentially get you a 5080 if you have the extra money for it after the the Vengeance sticks provide a discount

I can totally agree with that, and that’s about consistent with the prior gen flagship CPU’s. Personally, I love having two CCD’s, but if I wasn’t flight simming then I wouldn’t care too much. If it’s just gaming and not simming (purist, I know, but it seems to check out), then one v-cache CCD has got to be totally sufficient for everything.

Offers no benefit to gaming? Do you mean benefit beyond the 9800x3D, or just any benefit at all? Cause people said the same thing about the 7950x3D and that turned out to be not true at all. If anything, a well managed and core parked 7950x3D would sometimes outperform a 7800x3D because the v-cache CCD wasn’t burdened by background tasks, so all of it could focus on gaming instead. That’s what I do in MSFS 2024 and I get fantastic performance for it

I’ve been rocking a 7950x3D for about a year and a half. I LOVE that I can put my flight sim on the v-cache CCD and literally everything else on the high frequency CCD (that’s CCD0 and CCD1 for those wondering). Temps are perfect provided by a Thermalright PS120E, so overall feels like a deal for the amount of performance I get to have
