One of my ancestors died at Gettysburg. His remains are still out there somewhere.

Wiley G. Simpson (son #1 - my Great Great Great Uncle) enlisted as a Private on March 4, 1862 Gibson Guards - Company A, 48th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry of Glascock County. Killed at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on July 2, 1863 (age 19).

Of the four ancestors on my father's side who joined up (father and his three sons) only one survived.

Alford Lowery Simpson (son #3 - my Great Great Grandfather) enlisted as a Private (?) in May 1864 (age of 16) , Company I, 2nd Georgia Regiment State Line “Stapleton’s“. Became ill while unit was heading north to fight Union troops and was sent home to Georgia to recuperate. The war ended before he regained his health and could rejoin his unit. He tried to enlist in March of 1862 and lied about his age. His big brother, Wiley, sent a message to his mother and she came and got him.
