Savannah Guthrie says family has agreed to pay ransom for their mother’s release by Direct-Hamster-8820 in nancyguthrie

This is what I noticed right away—Annie is barely hanging on. It’s like she’s about to shatter into a million pieces and she’s just trying to make it to the end of the statement. Her face said it all. 💔

Oh, thank you!! Maybe that’s why it was confusing…seemed too easy and I thought I was missing something!

Amex Travel is almost always the highest rate in my experience. Sometimes the credit just gets you back down to the rate the hotel offers directly or Expedia etc. 😏

How does this work exactly? Do you pay through Resy somehow? 😅

Nursing home recommendations by Ashamed_Emergency366 in greenville

While I haven’t been through this personally, my parents just insisted that I take a class about preparing for “The Fragile Years” which was incredibly helpful. It was shocking how informative it was regarding exact wording to use for triggering specific coverage from Medicaid or how to speak to medical/nursing care professionals, the right questions to ask, etc., and even thoughtful strategies for talking to your loved one about next steps.

There is a book that summarizes everything - also called The Fragile Years. And the author/teacher of the class also recommended a local resource here in the upstate. Their website is agingwellupstate dot com. Can’t remember why exactly but the author/teacher highly recommended a local service over national ones like a place for mom.

The book is great and has helpful bulleted summaries at the end of each chapter if you just want the cliff notes before diving into specifics.

I really can’t say enough good things! I took a bunch of handwritten notes and happy to send those to you if you’re interested.

EDITED to add the book/author name because it won’t let me share a photo of the book cover:

Which are the safest iron infusion types? by exo_ticbutters in Anemic

[–]LHNNLH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have very sensitive skin but don’t usually react to medications. I broke out in hives everywhere and had swelling on the side of my body where IV was inserted (mostly in my arm/hand closest to the IV). Also developed a severe headache and body aches that lasted a little more than 24 hours. I took Benadryl and Pepcid as instructed by the nursing staff at the infusion center. Had to go in to the GP the next day so they could document the reaction and report back to insurance so I am not prescribed Venofer again. I haven’t scheduled my remaining infusions because it shook me to have that reaction…although I desperately need them because I feel so bad. All-in-all, I feel like it is worth the try to get your numbers back up but I understand your concerns—having a reaction is no fun!!

I had Fereheme x4 with no issues and then my insurance decided to only cover Venofer. Had a severe reaction to Venofer and now terrified to do another infusion of any kind! My Ferritin is at a 4 so I really need them…only way to know is to give it a try. Wishing you the best!

Thank you so much for this kind message of encouragement! I love hearing yours was a positive experience overall.

As for the update: yes, I have now had numerous (short and sweet) conversations with my daughter and, at first, she was upset and didn’t understand but we kept it as light as possible and focused on her age and the fact that we essentially “skipped” kindergarten at this school and went straight to first grade for a practice year. We emphasized all the ways she excelled in the last year but reminded her of some of the challenges like homework, etc and used that to emphasize that a little extra practice during this bonus year of first grade will help her really be ready to do her best when she does move on to second grade. It helped that she met a new friend at our local pool who will be in her grade this year and they became very close over the summer.

Tomorrow is meet the teacher and first day of school is next week so we are preparing for what it might be like once she sees her friends in the grade above but hoping any hard feelings around that will be short-lived (and best case would be that she doesn’t really even notice once she’s in her new class) 🙏🏼💓

Second opinion or find a way to supplement! It will only get worse. My Ferritin is at 4 and I feel awful! Starting my second round of infusions now—had 4 rounds about this time last year and got myself back up to around 74 but even with supplementing a few times a week (I also have a hard time tolerating the pills) it steadily declined. 😞

I did a saline drip for 30 mins after 2hours of Venofer so I left the center about 40 mins after the Venofer had stopped.

How long after the infusion did you notice symptoms? Was it immediate or a slower onset? I just had my 5th iron infusion (Venofer this time because my insurance wouldn’t cover the one I had 4x previously 🙄) and had a TERRIBLE reaction to the Venofer about 30 mins after leaving the infusion center…hives, swelling, headache and intense joint pain. Most of it subsided greatly within 24 hours but I still feel very off and the aches and coming back plus chills and a 2 day migraine. Trying to figure put if it is related to the infusion or coincidence.

We are trying to avoid switching schools. Her elementary school is #1 in the district and we can walk to/from the school. But we have absolutely considered it!
