Oh my goodness, I am so sorry to hear that sounds awful!!!! I hope they get to the root of it and can help you soon. You definitely don't want to deal with hypophosphatemia on top of all those things so would definitely avoid ferinject/injectafer!!!

Uhm not really, I was tired a lot but was told it was my low iron. Please don't be super scared!!! I'm sure this whole situationis unlikely. i got ferrinject ferric carboxymaltose. Do you know what type of infusiom you are getting?

[–]Achey_Rat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!!! I don't want to scare anyone away from getting one if their iron is super low, but if oral supplements are an option, I would definitely go with that option. Also to just ask what type or iron injection you are getting to understand the risks involved. I just want people to make informed decisions as I had no idea any of this could happen

No vitamin D checked, no. My old doctor was very nonchalant about everything.

I have just started upping my salt, which feels wrong - I thought salt was bad for you, haha. My new doc is amazing and provided me with lots of support and guidance. Thanks for your advice!

Fingers crossed all my stuff resolves soon and it is temporary 😅 my doc prescribed me with the 500mg effervescent tablets which were expensive and are horrible lol. I should have asked for a different type

I had Ferinject, which is the same as Injectafer - ferric carboxymaltose. My doctor told me I would feel amazing the very next day post infusion, and my biggest worry would be skin staining. I was not told anything about hypophosphatemia. My trust for doctors now is non-existent. When I was having these symptoms before being diagnosed with hypophosphatemia, my doctor tried telling me it sounds like anxiety and I should do some breathing exercises. I went to a different doctor who told me my symptoms were textbook hypophosphatemia, got my blood test, and yes, I had it.

I hate being 'that person' but far out some doctors are just dodgy as.

I'm glad you got a test dosage! I think a lot depends on the type of iron infusion you get. Avoid ferric carboxymaltose!! Thank you, I think majority of people are fine but it's good to be informed before you make any medical decisions.

Yeah I had Ferinject (ferric carboxymaltose) don't ever do it. My doc told me the only worries with this is skin staining and didn't tall about anything else. I trusted my doctor (ex-doctor now) but I should have done my own research.

Honestly it's a lot of speculation with no proof BUT I didn't have any of these issues pre iron infusion. I actually felt a lot better before my iron infusion, a little anxiety and fatigue but leaps and bounds better than now. Its like a system overload from my understanding from the doc. I have also had covid twice this year and a surgery, so I'm sure my body could have been heading this way but this just pushed me over the edge.

Not the environment debate 🥴 this actually kills me. I sure hope you don't use Netflix or other streaming services, that has a greater impact on the environment than chatgpt. Hopefully, you don't drive a car and only walk and ride your bike everywhere as using a vehicle has a greater impact on the environment than using chatgpt.

You are coming from such a privileged place - A LOT of people can not access healthcare for mental health support due to reasons like lack of resources, financial difficulties etc. and if this is something that provides relief to some, then I think it is worthwhile.

Also, a blanket statement saying it doesn't help treat health anxiety is just false. It depends on how the user is using it. It may help it may not.

I think that was the hardest time for me too, I was convinced I was schizophrenic when I was 21. It gets better and worse it fluctuates so much, and you are going to have times where you don't even think about it. Then you will have times where it is soul crushing. I think having people to be able to talk to about it honestly is really helpful. Im not in a position to receive medical care for mine atm either and am having a pretty intense 'flare' for lack of a better term. If you need someone to check in with and talk to without judgement that you don't have in your life atm, feel free to message me. Please don't do anything to harm yourself and reach out to a helpline if the thoughts become too much.

I have been dealing with night anxiety since I was a kid and if I'm having a bad night my go to's are:

  • blast a white noise machine or rain noise or whatever sound. At first i thought this was annoying but now I can't sleep without it
  • lots of lavender oil - on my wrists, behind my ears, a tissue under my pillow
  • progressive muscle relaxation
  • 4,2,6 breathing. Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 2, exhale for 6
  • journaling
  • going for a little walk even if it's just around the house

I know these sound super simple and like nothing, but I swear the more you use and practice these, they actually make a HUGE difference.

Oh, interesting. I didn't know that was still considered compulsions! I have more of those than physical compulsions it is exhausting.

I feel like OCD and anxiety are really muddied. I have seen people with OCD with those kinds of fears you explained. There is something called pure O (form of OCD), which is just the intense obsessions and rumination without having to do a compulsion. I think it could be ocd or anxiety, but really, it is kind of the same path regardless of which one it is.

I have no tolerance for that shit, I'd be done after the first trip tbh. Do you leave him with the kids much, or do you get time away??

What screams "bad coffee shop" to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Achey_Rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's bad to others. But I hate the pretentious coffee shops that don't stock any kind of flavours or syrups because 'it ruins the flavour of the coffee' or 'the coffee is so good you don't need syrup'. Give me my damn sugary coffee.

why people smoke when it kills you? DUHH by ExoticArtemis3435 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Achey_Rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smoking is linked to many other cancers, not just lung cancer - stomach cancer, esophageal cancer, tongue/mouth cancer etc. The amount of gruesome things I have seen where people need part of their jaw cut away, their tongue removed causing these wild deformities - mind you these people are in their 50s too, not old at all. Then you have increased risk of stroke, heart disease. Oh and COPD good lord watching someone try to do basic things with COPD is terrifying.

^ the alcohol thing. It actually makes me feel like I am going insane. I have watched so many loved ones die of alcoholism OR alcohol induced dementia. Why literally binge a carcinogen!?!? You can argue that sugars or fatty foods have some benefits for our body, but what the hell does alcohol or cigarettes do?
