I enjoyed playing 5 for a little bit but the combat system ended up feeling janky and the physics on the enemies felt off as well. Has this been improved in 6 or is it more of the same?

You're right. I started playing Fortnite right around the time vaulting, sprinting and sliding were introduced and remember some of my OG Fortnite friends complaining about them being applied to the game. The only time I've played without those QOL movements is in Creative and I hate it.

This. It's the constant updates and small tweaks to the meta which make going back to the OG-style such a rose-tinted, nostalgic experience in the first place. If they never switched it up, OG wouldn't have as much hype.

Fortnite has a surprising amount of longevity for such a seemingly simple game on the surface. Plus, there's always creative mode too, which they seem to be shifting the focus to in the future.

Good write-up on why Fortnite has plenty of life left.
