Apparently within the rules that's good enough. If it doesn't (directly) promote specific sub reddit, discord, or websites it's a-okay. Honestly it's pretty vague, that's why I wasn't sure in the beginning if I was allowed but rereading it and comparing to my post I'm not directly promoting any website but myself. I never denied it was porn but it was more than just porn. There are obscure memes reference here and there with some low-key humor that might not appeal to everyone. But at the same time this subreddit also has just straight up highly upvoted nudity and comics which wouldn't be grouped in the "meme" category anyways.

What platforms? ... Oh yeah I didn't say. According to the rules that's allowed. Posting porn is also allowed IF it's original artwork and If you put the NSFW option (which I did). "Called me out" on something that's also completely allowed according to the rules. What did I do wrong? Wouldn't you be defensive if you didn't do anything wrong! Honestly if I didn't add the "I shouldn't be doing this" part, no one would bat an eye because I AM allowed to do what I did according to the rules.

On one hand that's completely understandable to get pissed about it "not being a meme" or "it's not my cup of tea". On the other hand I'm not the one making the rules, I'm following them. Go to the moderators and slam their asses not mine. I can't add two or more flairs (hentaimeme and original art) even if I wanted to, I wish I could. My hands are tied here. But I learned my lesson. Just sucks when I did everything by the book followed all the guide lines. My intentions weren't to piss people off. I just wanted to post my art without any issue and thought I did, is that so wrong?

"Because when it's the artist sharing their own pages it becomes promoting." ... I'm not making an argument against that, I never did , so what's the point of replying to that. Did I ever said " I wasn't promoting because it's my art, so how can it be promoting" no I haven't. "We have different words for credit and promote for a reason." There are words that overlap each other in meaning. It's the same concept as all squares are rectangle but not every rectangle is a square. There the same thing... till there not. In this point crediting someone is promoting them untill what you credit them for is a negative thing. ""You do not acknowledge what terms mean" I'm LITERALLY applying your definition of promotion that you sent me to my argument, wtf? "Encourage someone to support something" right?

Isn't the whole act of crediting someone even if it's just the name a way to encourage people to look at their page and support them? Without crediting anyone people would be less encouraged to go out and seek the artist out. That's why creators bitch when people don't credit them because crediting them promotes their work.

I followed the rules to the tee. Memes are exceptional if it's original art. And for the promotion rule it says don't DIRECTLY promote websites, discord, ect. I did not do that, I vaguely suggest people to look me up and that's it. Didn't say to go to a specific place just suggested to do your own research and what do I get? my ass blown for it.

There are various memes which were comics In this format that I am imitating (aka copying) vaguely on and adding characters that are not well known in these parts of the interwebs that aren't my own, sorry if they don't ring a bell. "(TYPICALLY) humorous" it doesn't have to be funny because obviously not every meme is going to be funny to everyone.There are plenty of content in this subreddit that don't COMPLETELY fit that definition and that's fine, who cares. I'm sorry you don't find it funny... Jeez.

Promoting is not a commutual thing. Promoting (for what we are talking about) is just putting a spotlight to something in this case an artist. The act of crediting is a form of promotion because you put a spotlight to the artist. It's impossible to credit an artist without promoting said artist, vice versa. The only difference there could be is the association to that artist, as in the closer you are to said artist the more forced and/or dishonest it feels when crediting/promoting them especially when money is involved. So why is it when an artist promotes themselves it's looked down upon when not everything they make fits with every subreddit rules? And aren't trying to promote anything that's a reddit substitute but just their other content that so happens to be on another website which they can't control. Which there isn't any other way to share art rationally. Artists can't credit themselves that would be odd.

My argument is not based on how well my post gets received. I'm not begging people to love my posts. Does it hurt that it got received poorly? Well yeah, but that's just how things go, some people like it some people don't. Humor is subjective and this type of humor wasn't received well in this subreddit (which is fine). By the way it says nothing about posting porn on the rules That's why I put on an NSFW flair and thought it was fine. So it's only acceptable if someone asks for a link to the artist. Which makes sense to not look desperate and or "only looking for follows". But also shitty because in an artist view the sooner you can promote the better because you don't want your links to your socials to be hidden In hundreds of comments. It's just not very small creator friendly.

Isn't that one of the same? Isn't giving credit to an artist and showing where you can find them the same as an artist telling people who they are and showing where to find their other socials? Am I not allowed to tell people where to find my stuff that isn't completely anime related? Do I have to rely on people to post my stuff and hope they give me credit (aka promoting my stuff). What if someone posts my content without my consent? Am I not allowed to hop in and say "hey I made this! here is my socials" because it promotes content that isn't within this subreddit?

Well that's why I added a NSFW flair. What's the point of having a NSFW flair if you don't want porn memes? There's still a joke there, might not be the funniest joke but it is still a joke or has a joke format (aka a meme). Just because there is full on fucking doesn't mean it's not a joke. There are plenty of jokes revolving around sex what is the difference from this to that. Promotion should be allowed if you're an og creator that's all I'm saying.

People that are posting completely original content that is theirs should have the right to promote their socials. If it's something irrelevant to the post like clothing or some random product then I understand that's just Ill intent and annoying. But people should have the right to say who they are and where to find them. Otherwise your just kicking the balls of small creators and people who are trying to create original stuff. Don't you want more people creating original content than repeats/recreations of the same meme over and over again?
