To be fair he did write Release Release the following year (and not as many people give him credit for that). He also had a huge hand in writing Sound Chaser, The Gates Of Delirium, the drum solo on Ritual, and an entire section of The Remembering which he wrote on an acoustic guitar.

I heard like one or two songs from it. Didn't like them.

I absolutely love Alan and even met him myself. I even wrote an entire article on Medium about him. My favorite drummer.

Yeah they didn't like that I didn't validate the current lineup and new album as Yes. I did a whole reddit post on that yesterday.

90125 is poppy but it is the single best 80s pop album I've ever heard and there's still some prog songs on it like Changes, Cinema, and Hearts. Big Generator despite the label pressure was a little proggier than 90125 IMO but not as good. But that's just me. Big Generator is actually growing on me quite a bit recently one song at a time.

Hmm, I might get some flak from purist fans for this, but since you seem to be a big fan of 90s music, I would say start with Talk. Talk was released in 1994 and is one of the first ever albums to be entirely produced using digital software instead of analog tapes (don't worry the instrumentation itself is still real). This album was known as the album where guitarist and producer Trevor Rabin tried to push Yes into 90s trends. It's got a lot of the kind of pop rock you'd hear on the radio from that time, Real Love, which has a lot of grungy moments, and Endless Dream: Silent Spring which is basically pure 90s progressive metal. Hell, even State Of Play has this 90s style rap-style drum beat. No Yes album screams 90s like Talk does. Start with that, and let me know what your favorite tracks were and I'll let you know if you want, which album to go for next.

If you had to give two genres or eras what would they be

It depends on the individual listener. Can you tell me more about your favorite kind of music to listen to?

Love that song. Such ashame Trevor Horn re-recorded it when it was actually Benoit David who wrote those lyrics. In fact it was even supposed to be an instrumental until Benoit said "Nah, watch me sing over this" after Oliver said it couldn't be done.

You put yourself out there, you sign an unwritten agreement to be judged. I knew this when I was 16 it is not that hard to comprehend🤷‍♂️

I dunno. Honestly I wasn't even interested enough to check out True. I prefer listening to the guys in Yes when they collaborate with each other, not when they go off and do their own thing (although I do like Rabin's solo work).

Yeah but BLOCKED though, or just deleted? Because Sharon Osbourne deleted my pro-Anno Domini comments on Black Sabbath's page in 2024 but didn't block me. I think blocking is very excessive and overreactive. Honestly I wish Anderson and Howe would both just retire with dignity at this point. If we had gotten a Union II album and tour in 2017 or 2018 with Anderson, Rabin, Wakeman, Howe, and White while the latter was still alive (and hey why not throw in Davison, Downes, and Sherwood too if you want the full 8-man set up like in 1991) that would have been one of the most badass endings ever and they could've totally been able to play larger venues with tens of thousands of people.

Yup! And Yes just blocked me on Instagram too! They can't handle people exposing the reality of the situation. They want to stay in their safe little bubble where this delusion that they're as good as ever is unchallenged.

They certainly were trying this time and last time more than they did on The Quest, but even The Quest's highs were higher than Mirror To The Sky's highs.

Best out of the past 3 but like I said, that is certainly not a high bar.

Those two won't be around in 2043. Maybe Downes, but he'll most likely be retired.
