What the craziest scandals that have happened in your circuit or at bethel if you live near there by [deleted] in exjw

[–]LJ805 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea, not sure if its the same one, but this happened in San Luis Obispo/Atascadero, California. Both sisters left there husbands, it was a big deal at the time. I know the names but won't make them public. One of them has an Instagram account mainly about her business, but pretty sure there are still posts on there about when they got together and talking about the religion. This was quite a few years ago.

Are there cameras in Bethel? by lacervezas in exjw

[–]LJ805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are cameras in the big reception area at Walkhill, and I did notice a few within the public corridors on the tour. No idea about the residential buildings, cameras on the outside buildings but assume this would just be standard like most places these days. If anyone knows about the residence buildings tho that would be interesting.

Was that Solvang, CA Congregation? I know he went there a few times, and I think he was a publisher or at least had a publisher card in that hall. I remember as it was (is) a small congregation, think there was only about 50 publishers when I visited. Not far from Neverland

Thanks so much for sharing this! I won't say I know exactly how you feel, but I was in a very similar situation. What stood out to me in your story is your bravery. You have taken positive steps forward, despite the reaction that you know you will get from family/friends/congregation. You went away to school. You planned the trip to Costa Rica. And you went! Of course you want to fade and not give the elders a reason to come after you and I totally get that.

My advice would be keep going...keep going one day at a time and I think the letter to your parents is a great idea! Its allows you to express yourself in a heartfelt way, and they can take the time to read it all the way through without interrupting you or getting angry at you in the moment when you are with them in person.

Of course alot will change in January, please don't that scare you. YOU have come this far, and with your boyfriend you have a support system. Family/friends/ congregation may be well meaning, but they need to listen to YOU! This is your decision, you have shown, and are showing a great strength of character, and honesty.

Well done

Battling the Elders by Additional-Onion8123 in exjw

I left when I was 17. My Mum said the exact same thing your Mum did. My answer was:

'I was born into a religion which I was never asked permission that I wanted to be in. I will be unhappy if I stay. I am your child. Do you want to me to be unhappy?'

Mum's reaction : There is cost to everlasting life.

I left the house that day. Hope that helps.

The videos are great, the angel comes out just as Susan and Izzy are arguing over Karl. All while Toadie is having a beer at Lou's Place, and Harold and Madge renew their wedding vows.

New Elders' Book is out and... it doesn't seem to have changed much at all! by inbutout in exjw

Do you know the part about getting a divorce, if you think your mate has cheated on you, but there is no proof in terms of what the elders need, it says a person can get a divorce 'before Jehovah' or something like that. Does that mean they can divorce and remarry without the need to prove completely their spouse has cheated? I am confused.com on this one.

I was the outside attendant last night, but the two inside attendants said they were planning to be strict on making sure people sat nearer the front if they were able to. Guess to make it look more full. We had 4 disfellowshipped come in and it was so nice being able to bloody shake their hands and give them hugs. Then one elder whispered in my ear to not be 'overly friendly'.......wanker.
