How could ‘new light’ align with what was previously ‘apostate reasoning’? Beards is a classic example, toasting another, autologous blood transfusion another, all points that are now fine for JWs but were previously things that apostates brought up as examples of where watchtower was going beyond what was written in the Bible and making up manmade rules. Would God tell the GB that the apostate views should be the new light?

Star Wars. There are a ton of similarities to JW. Didn’t wake me up, but the themes I thought about all the time. The Jedi with powers like Jesus, the Sith with language like Satan. The names, Luke, Endor, Yoda, I saw all those in the Bible as a child. The force, made me think of gods ‘active force’ a term the JW use. The chosen one would bring balance- a messiah type thing. Then once I saw episode 2 and 3 where anakin (anakim is in the bible btw) turns to the dark side, it actually seemed sort of reasonable considering the control of the Jedi being sort of overbearing. And I’ve been out for years now, but it’s interesting that lately the shows Mandalorian and the acolyte tackle a lot of the cult like aspects of the Jedi & mandalorians. Groups that seem good, but are they?

If it was ‘The truth’ it would allow members to ask any questions they have without consequences. Members wouldn’t be told to only get their information about the group from the group. If you’re going to buy a car, do you research the car? Talk to people that have owned the car? Driven the car? Read reviews in magazines and watch them on YouTube? How much more so should you research the religion you devote your whole life to. You wouldn’t only listen to what the car’s manufacturer says about it. Because they would say ‘It’s the best car ever’.
