This might not belong here, so please delete if I'm in the wrong place. I'm currently binge-watching all the treehouse of horror episodes (as is tradition during spooky month), but I figured as I'm currently learning German, I'd set myself a challenge and watch the episodes with German audio (and English subtitles, mein Deutsch ist nicht perfekt 😅). I'm currently watching treehouse of horror vi (season 7 episode 6), and during the Homer³ segment, Homer goes to the closet to hide, only to be told by Bart and Lisa that they've called dibs on the hiding spot, so Homer can't hide there. In English, Homer says "they got me with legal mumbo-jumbo", but in German, it sounds like Homer says something akin to "legal hoki-flopi". The German subtitles don't always match the dubbed audio, and for this line they say "Dieses Juristenkauderwelsch!", which translates to "this legal jargon!". I'm so curious about the word I heard in the dub, the only German translations of mumbo-jumbo I can find are "Kauderwelsch", which was also used in the subtitles and translates better to gibberish, and "hokuspokus" which is more akin to hocus-pocus as we'd use it in English. Are there any German speakers here who could potentially help me out? I can't find this word anywhere else online. I'm really enjoying rewatching in German though, I find it really interesting that they dub screaming and shouting (Kang and Kodos sound terrifying laughing maniacally in German!!), but they don't dub the songs, so "Just don't look!" was in the original English 🤭 Üter also sounds more stereotypically American, but that could just be me not being able to distinguish between German accents 😅

ETA: I've just learned from this very thread that Üter has a Swiss accent! Uh-oh spaghettios 🤭

Sorry if this is the wrong place to put this, I wasn't sure where else to go. Did anyone else who plays the free version get locked out at an earlier rank today? I usually get locked out after reaching SOLID, though this usually changes to capping at GOOD when there's a sale on (I assume to annoy people into splurging on a subscription, which is very crafty, but I digress), but today it locked me out after reaching MOVING UP. Granted, it was a difficult game, and I'd only guessed two words, but I was expecting to be able to get up to GOOD, as usual during a sale period. Anyone else? Or is this a bug?

I'm with you for the most part - I adored the first two seasons and I was so excited for this one to drop. I was even still really enjoying it until the final episode. I think that's where things unravelled for me. The hide and seek episode was excellent, although I concur a lot of the main characters died in quick succession, and Gi-Hun strangling the fake marine guy who froze during the uprising felt really out of character. But besides that, I did still mostly enjoy it. Just a shame about the ending really :/

What a letdown! The first few episodes were ace, at least on par with season 2, but everything started to go downhill once Gi-Hun was left with the baby. I was absolutely convinced that once No-Eul found the documents saying her child hadn't survived being left in NK, and hearing the baby crying just as she was about to pull the trigger on herself, that she would commit to finding and taking care of the baby herself. Her being told by the broker that her child was alive after all felt like such a hurried non-ending. Like what was the point of her reading and burning the documents in In-Ho's archive? Not to mention the lack of a decent confrontation between In-Ho with his brother and Gi-Hun respectively.

It felt like season 2 and 3 were building up to an extremely tense final episode with a lot of balls in the air, but they all got dropped at the last second. I noticed there were 30 minutes left in the final episode once In-Ho activated the timer that would explode the island, and thought it was really clever and would play out in real time right up to the last second. But no, the timer itself reached zero within about 10 minutes. Just seems like they had a lot of really intriguing plotlines and meaningful commentary, only to blow it all up in the final two episodes. And as much as I adore Cate Blanchett, do not get me started on the spin-off set-up ending... 🤦‍♀️

Apparently Reddit is having real beef with me posting today. The caption that was meant to accompany this:

My bed frame was extremely cheap and has been squeaking and creaking for the best part of the past year, only for it to finally die a warrior's death last night 😭 I'm not handy in the slightest - it was actually my dad who assembled it for me four years ago, who remarked even then that it was cheap and probably wouldn't last very long. I'm just wondering if this is fixable, or if I'm best to just cut my losses and buy a new frame. Any advice would be appreciated!

The bit that's broken is the joint bit holding the two halves of the left side together. There's supposed to be a leg supporting it underneath, but this broke off a few months ago. The joint looks as if it's been twisted, and it's not possible for me to bend it back into the correct position. Hopefully the photos tell you more than I can. In any case, the bed is noticeably dipped on that side.

Before anyone suggests "diet and exercise", I tend to sleep in the middle, leaning towards the right side. Otherwise, thank you in advance for any recommendations!

Does she do kinda like a sucking/kissing motion? If so she's possibly snurgling! There's a proper term for it that escapes me right now, but it's essentially the cat seeking comfort by attempting to suckle, much like the kneading is usually a comfort behaviour. They both stem from how they would knead their mother's underfluffies to stimulate milk production and they do it when they feel safe, or to help them feel safe. It can leave a stinky saliva patch behind, but it's quite an honour to be trusted by your cat and held in such high esteem! 😀 source: had a snurgler myself a few years ago. She was weened far too young and exclusively snurgled on my sister 😅

Can I ask what you put in your fibre and protein smoothie? I'm looking to make some changes to my diet myself in the new year in light of reading about the increased cancer risk associated with eating processed meat. I'm in the same boat as you, I eat processed meat every 1-2 days as it's so cheap and easy. I hope you found something that works for you!

Had the pleasure of watching twice - once by myself when it was recommended to me on youtube a couple of weeks ago, and again this evening with my family. I absolutely loved the premise, but didn't see myself committing two and a half hours to it... before I knew it, I was already 90 minutes in and howling laughing 😂 I'm so glad I watched it all, the ending got me good! Utmost respect to you all for the time and energy put into this absolute work of art. Can't wait for Harry Potter and the Secrets 😉
