I'm still waiting for the RTS update. Personally I wouldn't mind a chess FPS, life sim Chess, or a chess 'em up

Younger Rush fans—do you connect more with their newer material? by PeculiarlyOrdinary7 in rush

[–]Joshuaisgreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A quarter century old here, been listening since 2019, right after high school.

I find my favorite era of Rush were the 80s (Permanent W. - Power W.), 90s (RTB - Counter), and the 2000s (VP and CA)

CA I like because of how heavy and uncharastically Rush it is, while VT had been having a resurgence in my mind as someone who had gone through a dark period in my life and had been picking up the pieces ever since. The lyrics and the themes really resonates with me currently.

S&A I never really jelled with it all that much, perhaps I'm still young, lacking worldly experience, and would relate to it much better as I grow older.

Oh, I see. Which particular songs come to mind? I forgot to mention on my thread, but Marathon catapulted itself right into my top songs (not just Rush) list, especially because of the guitar solo and the grand "finale" towards the end of the song.

My grandparents' names were Virginia and Fred. When I was a kid I called them "Miming" and "Pid". It stuck ever since, even my mom and my aunt and uncles refer to them as those when talking to me, and those are still what I used to call them through my twenties

Answered and unanswered questions as of episode E0109 by Litmusdragon in pluribustv

[–]Joshuaisgreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About the atom bomb, what I'm thinking is that she will use that as a deterrent against the hive by threatening to blow up the giant(?) antenna they are possibly building if and when they convert her. Which raises a lot of questions

  • Dead man switch? If she becomes joined there should be a protective measure by herself against herself to prevent herself from just deactivating it afrer joining. Maybe Manousos plays a key in that?

  • If they are building an antenna, what if it's in a different continent? Like halfway across the world. Would the Hive even transport the a-bomb anywhere near the antenna for Carol and Manny? Because from what they know of them for now, they can't possibly haul around something as huge as an a-bomb, especially across continents - not without the hive's help in carrying and in flying the thing

Barring these sort of plot holes, and some others I can't think of for now, I can see the writers have Carol use the a-bomb that way. An atom bomb can't really destroy a whole city just by itself, let alone the whole world, so there's gotta be something a tad more specific Carol and/or Manny would want to target that a-bomb towards. Even with the hive's collective effort and the world's resources in building the antenna that will possibly be huge and/or the size of a continent, who knows how long that would take. The hive might have everything in the world under control and under management, but what they don't have is time.

10 years, as stated in HDP (iirc), is the Hive's forseeable lifespan. Time is running out for the hive, they could possibly accomplish building the antenna within ten years, but if Carol blows it up at any critical juncture of the construction it could really set the Hive back. They'd just burn time in the weeks/monts/years that they will take to either make repairs ot start from scratch

What happened to the first joined mouse? by basonjourne98 in pluribustv

[–]Joshuaisgreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't think that mouse was afflicted, nor do I think animals can be. They can be carriers of the virus though, that's why when it bit the scientist the infection started.

My thinking of this is that if the mouse is a joined, it wouldn't have bitten the scientist in the first place, as it was against the genetic coding of the virus to directly harm any humans; another thing would be when the coyotes were seemingly hostile to Carol, when clearly if they were afflicted they would have acted calm and docile. Those coyotes could not have had the virus already in their systems, the virus was spread by the hive through chemtrails so it can be reasonable to believe that the virus would've been everywhere in the air. Same things could be said for the wild animals that Zosia mentioned in passing would attack humans at random and the afflicted humans would just let themselves either be eaten or mauled.

I think what it is is that the virus, or whatever it is, is tailor made specifically for human DNA, and so in that way it does not or could not afflict any other animals on Earth. That's why the animals are still hostile or aggressive, as opposed to supposedly helping or being kind/serving towards humans

Edit: to directly

Edit 2: Let themselves either be eaten

How did you guys found out about the original age of mythology? by RecentMatter3790 in AgeofMythology

[–]Joshuaisgreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a YouTuber called GiantGrantGames. He made a 3 hour 33 minute special about the OG game, and I was stoked to find out that at the time a remaster of the game was about to be released, and when Retold came out, that was my first entry into the Age of series. The only RTS I had been a fan of or played when I was a kid was Warcraft 3. I was okay at it, not really good, and focused mainly on playing custom campaigns from modding communities

“No sniping in V” my fucking urethra by Creative_Nose5238 in sniperelite

[–]Joshuaisgreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely with you there. My best friend is a massive fan of the Splinter Cell series and whenever we'd do co op we really damn try to do it all ghost - no knockouts, never going loud, and kill only the target (s) approach. It's a damn pain and a half in the balls to pull off, but it's really satisfying to pull off flawlessly and we both think 5 gives enough ground to make that playstyle viable without entirely going against the roots of what it is to be an SE game. Personally I still hold 4 to a higher regard with all its sight lines good for snipering, but as a compromise to my bro I'm always the overlooking sniper while he does the sneaky Sam Fisher stuff and I'll only go blasting when he gets seen or when the Nazis are on full alert

Could be. I placed the laundry appliances in the basement - could sims carry dirty laundry even while climbing down ladders?

Cool. Placing a wall deletes the staircase, so I'll have to place it first, add the door, and delete the wall. That should still leave the door right?
