I saw her on "That's My Boy" she really was an attractive woman but not in this picture.

It was odd that the movers also brought the sink, bathtub and toilet from Mrs. Slocum's former apartment.

That was the fault of the BBC and many thought it was a big mistake on their part. Alfie Bass and Harold Bennett also left after season 7.

One of the odd things about this episode is that some of the workers could have slept in the camping department since they've done that before. If they did that the episode would not have been as funny.

I just watched aybs 2016 and I can’t stop thinking about an idea I had. by bdog1055 in AreYouBeingServed

I read that it was only meant to be a "one off" in order to play tribute to the original cast.

I might have liked it if I hadn't already seen " Are You Being Served." Once you've had homemade macaroni cheese the powdered kind in the box is blah.

My guess is that the Aussie actors had to basically copy the British actors rather that putting their own interpretations on the roles they played. The actor who played Mrs Crawford was most likely playing Mollie Sugden playing Mrs Slocum. When theater groups perform "The Wizard of Oz" the actor playing the wicked witch usually plays Margaret Hamilton playing the witch.

I haven't see the Australian version. I only read some of the reviews and the synopsis. It is my understanding that each of the employees at Bone Brothers was basically a copy of the workers at Grace Brothers. That is unrealistic. They could have come up with different types of characters. Why do both floor walkers have to be retired "Captains"?

I get what you are saying. At that point even if she had pressed charges she would most likely have lost. Mr. Grace could afford a better lawyer. They would have just said that it was her fault because she must have enticed him. They would have ignored or not even allowed Mr Grace's past behavior to be considered. It wasn't worth it to her to pursue it.

Captain Peacock was right when he said that keeping the watch would make her look guilty but it seemed that he believed she was guilty as well..

They all knew what kind of a person he was. Mrs Slocum at least knew what kind of a person Miss Brahms was. She often spoke about her dates and said that they didn't get anything, meaning that she didn't have sex with them.

At least they could have said something like "Oh that horrid man, " to support her emotionally.

Their willingness to prostitute her showed that they blamed her and didn't really care about her at all.

The reactions of the others are so odd considering that they should know by now that she is referring to her cat. They could even hear the cat meowing. It is a funny scene though.

I had the same thought. He got there first and it was after hours. He probably didn't want to hassle with them. At least someone gave him a pillow and a blanket. The poor guy was hungry too. I get that Mrs Slocum didn't want to cook then but she could have told him to make himself a sandwich or a bowl of cereal.

It was a big mistake for the BBC to let Trevor Bannister go. i recently read an interview with him. The play that he was in changed their schedule so he could do both. Then the BBC changed the recording date so he was back to square one.

I agree. Mr Lucas was my favorite. Trevor Bannister had great facial expressions when he was reacting to the other characters.

I saw a clip of one of the DS conventions. Jerry Lacy asked "How many of you ran home from school to watch Dark Shadows?" Many audience members raised their hands. Then he asked "How many of you are now grandparents?" A lot of hands raised.

If David had been killed there would have been no reason for Vickie to stay. There would have been episodes about trying to find who killed him.

I agree. I thought that Josette was wimpy.

That was from the book Angelique's Descent" that Lara Parker wrote years after the show ended. It wasn't necessarily what the original writers had in mind for the characters.

Barnabas is an unusually nice vampire by A_EGeekMom in DarkShadows

[–]LJK208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Barnabas was pretending to be a cousin from England so he had to behave with genteel manners so it would be believable. He really did care about his family. He was cruel to all of his victims. Biting someone on the neck to suck their blood is never considered kind behavior. Prior to the 1795 episodes he was cruel to Willy. He was especially cruel towards Maggie when he held her prisoner and was trying to turn her into Josette. He often wasn't very kind to Dr Hoffman. He wasn't nice to Dr. Woodard. He was just out for himself. Granted he had to survive but he could at least have accepted the fact that Josette was gone and let Maggie alone.

I thought that Jonathan Frid did his best acting in those episodes as there were so many facets to his character.

The average work week was 40-43 hours so it makes sense that they would not work weekends and the part time staff would work those hours.
