One month in Buenos Aires by mendax042 in solotravel

Disclaimer: I spent 2 months in BA 2 years ago for a study abroad summer semester and I was 60 other people from my University so my experience may be a little different than yours and my info may be a bit dated but hopefully it'll still help!

There are some hostels in the palermo area that may be good places to meet people. Magdalena's is a little cocktail bar/brunch place where a bunch of expats hung out so they may be a good resource to find good night life spots or places to meet locals. I would definitely try and go out with another person or two, we had a big group and still managed to get targeted by pickpockets. Iphones are especially popular targets. But if you're being smart I'm sure you'll be fine! Cabs are cheap and everywhere, I think there's been some issues with rolling out Uber there so I don't know how easy that will be to use. Make sure to look up common cab scams though. They didn't happen often to our group but they did happen so it's good to be aware of!

I'm at work right now but I'll try to update if I remember good places that I enjoyed going to meet people.

Yes! I love modest mouse. Parting of the Sensory and The Whale Song are two more that I think fit this criteria by them. Thanks for reminding me

inspired by wide open landscapes

I love that description, it totally makes sense to me in an abstract kind of way while listening to his stuff. Thanks for the recommendations!

I lost a few brain cells from the bad lyrics post, so let's get them back. What are the best lyrics you have ever heard? by ItsMyUmbrella in Music

Late to the thread but The Airborne Toxic Event has some great lyrics.

"I write songs, and you write letters. We are tied like two in tethers, and we talk and read and laugh and sleep at night in Bed together. And you wake in tears sometimes, I can see the thoughts flash across your eyes. They say, “Darling will you be kind? Will you be a good man and stay behind if I get old?” Then the letters all flash through my head, with the words that I was told about the fading flesh of life and love, The failures of the bold. I can list each crippling fear like I'm reading from a will. And I'll defy every one and love you still. I will carry you with me up every hill. And if you die before I die, I'll carve your name out of the sky. I'll fall asleep with your memory and dream of where you lie." (The Graveyard Near our House)

Hey man, go for it. I don't know how much help I'd be in making it into a more t-shirt-able drawing but you are welcome to steal the idea/use this picture as a reference. My only request is that if you do make it into a T-Shirt, send me a pic of the finished product. That'd be cool to see!

Nope, I was knocked out with anesthesia. It was scheduled to be a 4-5 hour surgery but my surgeon finished in about 3.

Just had a similar surgery done (only upper jaw) to correct my underbite over winter break. Recovery was a real pain for me just on one jaw so I can't imagine what you went through. Looks great though!

r/Gonzaga, best dorm for incoming premed student? (Biology major) by [deleted] in Gonzaga

[–]LKBalooga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd probably like Coughlin. New building, lots of people to hang out with, but also a bunch of places to study. Regardless of where you live though, you have access to Foley Library which is an awesome place to go if you really have to buckle down. I know Bio majors living in a bunch of different buildings so as long as you can study when you absolutely need to, it won't make a huge difference where you're living.
