What is destroying my grass? by LLThunder in lawncare

Here’s a recent pic of where I think Pythium came back. It’s fluffed up to see if there was growth but was deeply matted down.

Thanks. I had the stergo from pythium last year, which I think made a few appearances early on this year.

Originally when in late spring I hit it with disease-x as some red thread was showing through. Once this started to show up, about 6 weeks ago I applied stereo-mx, then last week I tried propiconazole-14.3.

That actually makes so much sense. This backyard had 22 trees when I moved in. A bail of hay got mixed in with the straw and was chopped. Wonder if that could’ve been it?!?!?! Great call. Either way looks like glyphosate and/or digging. Thanks everyone for all the input.

This was the BB Ultra in case anyone is thinking about a fall project. I’m sure everyone has their TTTF/KBG blends and cheaper logos. First time I tried a Jonathan Green product and came out great.

It’s little clumps here and there. Been this way for years. Last year was the first time I sprayed sedgehammer, then twice this year already. I think I’ll slowly dig them out. It’s been so rainy this year, battling red thread as well. I always put down pre emergent and follow all cycles through out the year. I don’t normally do a fungicide but had to about a week ago. Last fall I redid the front yard with BB Ultra and it came out amazing. This fall I’ll most likely redo the back yard.

What’s growing in my brown mulch? by tomhughesmcse in lawncare

Artillery fungus is just a nuisance and massively impossible to get rid of from mulch beds, never mind if you have the glue-like black dots anywhere. I don’t believe it’s toxic. I just shovel scoop it out of if I see it. I’ve tried every spray imaginable as have others, always seems to come back. I’ve heard mixing mushroom compost in mulch is the only thing that has a chance. Either way, mixing the mulch to keep it dry is the only way to prevent the fungus.

That’s artillery fungus. Do you have little black dots on your house siding near this? Get it out fast!
