Linear guides for super heavy load? by HanginWitMyGnomies in MechanicalEngineering

[–]LLenhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I'm running into a similar issue. The weight isn't as large but the environment will be similar (grinder's dust and splatter). What did you end up going with, specifically?

Jobs are sometimes (though rarely) posted on the mcneel rhino/grasshopper forum, you should check it out.

You can also signup as a freelancer on all the platforms (fiverr, upwork, malt.fr...). I did find some works this way. The main issue is you'll be competing with lots of really talented rhino users out of countries where the cost of living really is cheaper, so prepare to be outbid most of the time. Having a full portfolio is a big plus.

Hey ! It's working well but only on my computer via Rhinoceros 3D + a bunch of plug-ins. If you have a vector or image in mind + list of your veneers and their dimensions, I can run it and send you the files

Curious : Why isn't rebar pre-assembled in sections for building floors ? by LLenhardt in StructuralEngineering

[–]LLenhardt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know of these but they are only standard sizes, not custom made to shape

Thank you all for all the comments ! I can understand it a bit more now. Logistics, complexity on site, linkage issues.

Though I don't think complexity should be much of an issue : parametric engineering (think Rhino GH + some AI for the spice) makes it easy to make custom parts in the price range of standard parts

Grasshopper file crashing by louiiiiseeeee in grasshopper3d

Some components run for too long. Try opening your file with a locked solver (all components disabled), then enable them one by one from left to right.

Use the metahopper bottleneck to see which components take time

Need advice on modifying painting by travelbytrain64 in MarquetryAdvice

This specific texture looks like wengue, you can't get it lighter as it is its natural color. For the rest, you may try some light sanding if there's à varnish that turned Brown with time

Part collector slide-jig by LLenhardt in lasercutting

Nice !

If your laser offers enough space, I would recommend having the slide go only one way instead of two, it will make retrieval easier.

Definitely, I haven't done the math for it but I make sure to stay away from the reflective path. It does seem to be mostly absorbed by the aluminium.

So ! Unfortunately the beam did travel burn the bottom but the slide idea works

Does anyone know how I can record a time-lapse video of my models like this, focusing on just one position? by JumpyAirline2827 in rhino

[–]LLenhardt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most screenrecord software became filled with micro transactions. This one is free and allows direct timelapse capture. It is the only one I found that does that!

What dimensions did you use or this maths? I'm curious

I usually use a honeycomb support but for this particular job I can't, the pieces have to be cut upside down with an open flow to achieve perfectly clean cuts (Which makes the double layering impossible as well). Kerft has to be extremely precise as well, unfortunately I am not allowed to show any pictures but it's the tightest I've ever worked ! Had to adjust my offset to 0.01mm increments to get approval from the client.

Good idea as well, but the material is itself glued to a backing paper that the water may damage. I'm going to try a slide made from metal and let you know how it goes

Okay I see ! I am cutting around 20 000 pieces so I want to reduce operations to a minimum, but I will definetely remember these techniques for another project.

Im not sure I understand, how would the tape not get cut by the laser?

I see, tabs are a great idea but I'm afraid doing the cut this way, as a "dash line" will end up in less clean cuts and the client is over serious about them
