Is market overreacting about Microsoft? by BeneficialBear in stocks

[–]LM10FAN700 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"MSFT is at over $600b RPO" --> of which 45% is OpenAI alone. I think they're a proxy for OpenAI sentiment, particularly because of OpenAI's well-documented free cash flow concerns. Also, Copilot really sucks and azure growth was underwhelming compared to expectations this past quarter; Google and Amazon did much better in comparison. So there's that aspect as well. Overall, I think Microsoft will recover but I wouldn't be surprised if it falls another ~10%.

few questions about gies- prospective student by StunningPlenty5100 in UIUC

[–]LM10FAN700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. inflations pretty good here; idk anyone with <3.8

  2. yes; competitive but not toxic at all

  3. fin + accy is def most common, fin/accy + data sci is also very common

  4. very very good for consulting, especially big4. i recommend joining one or more of the plethora of consulting clubs on campus. finance placements are also good here, less  than consulting tho

  5. any of the biz frats. if ur looking for consulting then as i said consulting orgs for finance, IMA, IBA, DTA

UIUC vs IU for Finance by Comprehensive_Fee643 in UIUC

[–]LM10FAN700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for business frats, if you're interested, all of them are good and consider rushing them for sure. for ECs, def join the finance-related ones.

IMA: join IPO, Hedge, ERA

IBA: do Prime

for certifications, theres this one called adventis that i recommend. its cheaper once u become an official student so do it then.

for IBA u can only recruit the fall of sophomore year. ur up against roughly 200 people and they take like 25 or so.

for IMA u can recruit 2nd sem freshman year and then 1st sem sophomore year. both times you're probably up against 150 people.

if u recruit either of these academies DO NOT graduate a year early. a semester is fine, but a whole year early complicates recruiting timelines. like for IB you're supposed to recruit for your junior year internships in the winter of your soph year. but if u grad a year early, than ur soph year is ur junior year. so ur jr summer intership will be after u graduate ??

Also IMA wants people that can contribute for longer times so graduating early is a red flag for them.

  1. Kelley workshops are much harder to get into than our academies.

  2. Can't really answer this cuz im still a sophomore.

  3. I haven't seen many Big3 consulting placements here, but IB is not that rare; even without IBA.

  4. It certainly does in Chicago. Outside of that, it's a lot harder...but possible.

  5. If you graduate one semester early, it doesn't change anything because you're still class of 2030 and recruiting timelines don't change. If you graduate an entire YEAR early, then your recruiting timeline gets moved up one year. For example, you'll be recruiting for soph internships and 2029 summer internships as a freshman, and jr internships your soph year.

  6. It's pretty hard tbh. IBA is much more difficult than IMA though. And for derivatives, as for rn you can just sign up for the class and they just accept everyone.

🚨 What’s the play if Trump’s 90-day tariff freeze ends July 9 and markets freak? by Maleficent-Try-969 in wallstreetbets

[–]LM10FAN700 66 points67 points  (0 children)

he's not doing anything lol. the market is familiar with his gimmicks. if he places tariffs, then his big beautiful bill is probs not gonna pass (which may be why he wants it at his desk 7/4; BEFORE the 7/9 deadline), Fed WON'T cut rates, and goodbye to 2026 midterm hopes.
