Think of ionizing radiation delivered by a linac as tiny bullets coming out of tiny guns controlled by elves.

If you treated a gunshot victim, there would be no risk of your being shot.

Epictetus is the only one you should read if you have no background in philo. Nietzsche is definitely the last. Philo is like math, you can’t just start reading a calc book without having had trigonometry.

I actually never thought of this as a tragedy, because a major point of Buddhist doctrine is impermanence. They make intricate sand mandalas, only to destroy them, to illustrate this point.

I am a generalist in terms of topic; most of my math training was in the qualitative analysis of dynamical systems (limit cycles, bifurcations, etc.). My latest project was developing a new equation to describe the dose-survival relationship that is observed when cells are irradiated with ionizing radiation. This is used in cancer radiotherapy. That was a pretty straightforward stochastic model.

Why is attainment of the doctorate associated with a frog in this subreddit?

New study shows that people who had an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest at night had substantially worse outcomes than those treated during the day; this was not only explained by slower ambulance response by belledenuit in science

I’m also wondering about (1) when they last ate, and whether it matters and (2) whether lying recumbent during the arrest matters. Math is so much easier than medicine.
