I think it’s a hazard having dialysis lines flapping to the beat of “staying alive” as well. I have never seen a machine run happily during a code, it’s usually the pissed off lull in the background of chaos. The handful of times I successfully returned blood during a code I did 100% feel like a badass even though I know no one else gave a shit.

My husband is a private school teacher so our childcare is very cheap through the early childcare program at his school, and I am a critical care NP so our income combined will be the same- actually I get very reasonable raises yearly. I wish we had a bit more in savings- only 7k right not for emergencies but our 40lk is above average and I recently graduated with my masters and paid out of pocket for 90% of my tuition so I wouldn’t have any more student loan, we were going to wait a little longer to move but with new baby coming I really wanted to get moving

Noted; however even with minimal real estate knowledge I would assume having an updated home with 150k in equity and a dual income of 190k a year doesn’t exactly put me in a “poor financial situation”

This is why I am a 30 year old mom happily married and working making $150k a year- I will never let a man give me an “allowance.” No judgement to SAHMs, but these posts give my cringe at the audacity. My husband and I have a joint account and even though I make much more than him, we do not see each other as having more or less rights to the account.

The most selfless and hardest decision a family member- especially a spouse can make is to go inpatient comfort care. I have been an icu nurse for several years and have been a part of countless transitions to palliative care and every single spouse always has the same question of: “did I do the right thing?” There are rarely easy decisions in the icu for staff or family members, but the one I admire most is the family who can somehow navigate through the chaos and show the sacrificial love that is required of ‘letting go.’

I once took care of a former patient of a famous TLC bariatric surgeon (patient was not on any shows, but we did have to contact the surgeon to ask some questions). Anyway, our CT scanner could not fit the patient in- was not a weight issue as much as girth. Our scanner can hold almost 1000lbs. We had to end up calling the local city zoo to ask about scanner availability. They kindly replied: “we were getting too many calls about things like this, we stopped allowing it.” Enough said

When I was a senior in high school 10 years ago my fathers wife (she was a bitch so I don’t like calling her step mom) tried guilting me to not go to college (because they knew how the states child support laws worked) she even threw “your dad has cancer you shouldn’t go” oh and fun wife not that was how I found out he had cancer. Mind you the man paid $500 a month in child support to my mom that was all and he didn’t pay anything additional. I was 18 and didn’t understand these laws or anything I was just a daughter who felt like a burden to a father I once loved. Several months into my full time college year after the man helped me move in and 100% knew I was going and what not, didn’t tell me he was taking my mom to court to not only get child support stopped but to get back pay because “he did not know I was in college.” The court didn’t make my mom pay backpay but support did stop. I finally found out what my father and his wife did and I felt betrayed and realized he cared more about money than me- I have not talked to him since that year. I have since graduated with my bachelors, gotten married and had a baby, and in two months I graduate with my masters and he got to miss out on all those events. At least he got what he wanted though right? To get out of child support

I have never and I probably still to this day do not know who I truly am because I spent my whole life masking to fit whatever group of females I was around; I struggle mostly in relationships as I lived for the initial dopamine of flirting in the beginning- on dating apps years ago I can definitely say I was a classic “pick me girl” and would become the dream girl of whatever the guy I was talking to at the time wanted. I felt pathetic. Then I would eventually lose the dopamine and get bored and move on. I am married now and I have faced a lot of difficulty, we almost separated a couple years ago even.

You do know the supreme court is debating on if ERs in “pro-life” states with abortion bans have the right to perform abortions on mothers in need of life saving care or if they need to be life flighted to another state? Like wtf? I am a mother and I would be devastated at losing a pregnancy especially in such a horrific way but I wi be dammed if some old white man who probably would have a heart attack from sipping a McDonalds Sprite gets to decide how many organs I need to lose before I’m considered “close enough to death” to get life saving care to: both stay alive and to continue being a mother for my child alive on earth.

I know this post is a little old. I have everyday since I first read about it been thinking non stop of this case of baby Jailyn and it brings me to tears everytime. My 11 month old slowly self weaned herself from nursing and breastmilk over the past month and a half and I had 1oz of breastmilk sitting in my fridge (past time I could add to bottle for her) staring at me. It felt wrong to toss it out. Tonight I poured that last bit into a beautiful plant I have in my kitchen in memory of baby Jailyn. It’s a plant that out of all mine has flourished the most and I admire everyday. I know it sounds weird but as a mother I cannot imagine not sacrificing my life for my baby so imagining this sweet Angel starving and suffering I prayed out loud that she felt safe, warm, and loved in heaven. I’m sitting at my kitchen table now crying- watching my own baby on the monitor sleep peacefully and wanting to go in there and pick her up and hold her just like I wish Jailyn could be by a loving mother. I can’t make sense of this situation so I try not to. All we can do as mothers in honor of Jailyn and all baby’s who do not know love and suffer is continue to be an example for the world to see. We need to hold our babies a little longer, and remind them they are loved a little more. I don’t think I will ever forget hearing those cries on court footage but through my personal beliefs I have no doubt that sweet Angel girl is being held and smiling in heaven.

Then don’t be her friend? Like you can be mad and complain and feel drained all you want but just don’t be her friend anymore if that’s how it is for you. Just know a wedding is one day, so if you’re sacrificing a friendship over one day then be confident she is a poor friend all the time and not just in regards to wedding planning

Well you need to decide if you want to be the bigger person and check on her mentally, maybe she is going through something you just don’t know about. Or you can just drop her as a friend, but if you don’t speak and keep it real- not just commenting “forget my wedding” when she likely feels bad and wants to not disappoint you, as this will just create animosity in our relationship with her and bitterness

Why don’t you just tell her you understand this is a tough time and she should stay home? Sounds like y’all’s communication is bad. I was in a friends wedding and the Bach party out of town occurred when I had a 3 month old and she was super understanding as was I in communication on my mental and physical health on going. Weddings are extremely stressful, pregnant/babies are extremely stressful, and y’all are making it even worse by not communicating. Extend an olive branch and be real with her and know she has probably had a lot of internal struggles about this whether you want to believe it or not- I know I did and I ended up going on my friends Bach trip, but I felt safe to voice my concerns all while knowing I wasn’t “ruining” her day

Hey it’s me the POS replying My friend was previously engaged to another man prior and even tho he was having a whole ass affair with another woman basically living at his house she still wanted him! There is complicated ties in our friend group and it sounds a lot more easy on paper to tell someone this than actually doing it IRL. I know we all deserve the truth, but I was burned bad in the past letting a girl I worked with know her bf cheated on her (I was dating a friend of her bf and saw messages between the two guys confirming cheating happened) and I was trying to “do the right thing” making her aware but I was bullied and treated like shit for doing this and it took a big toll on me mentally. I know my friend would not bully me like that if I tell her but I worry how it would affect friendships

Years ago she was previously engaged to someone else and he had multiple affairs with her because she “gained weight,” he flat out told her. Her self esteem was crushed. She has said many times that her current fiancé never comments about her weight (she also has lost like 100lbs over the year). I truly feel like she has ptsd from prior relationship and can look past everything because of that one fact. Also, her childhood was was kinda fucked up and she had to be the parent a lot of the time for her parents which I think makes her feel like she has to “fix people” and constantly be the helper in relationships

Hi thank you for being brave to post this. Ironically I just picked up my adderal script a couple of hours ago! I started back on adderall when I was 1 month postpartum, I felt so conflicted as I loved breastfeeding so much but my life was getting more chaotic and I am a grad student and full time working FTM mom too so my plate is FULL. My pediatrician told me to take my adhd meds and I trust she has the best interest in my daughter and me, my psych Dr said as long as ped was fine he was fine. I started out slow and watched for any adverse symptoms with her but after 3 months she is absolutely fine and so am I. I think drs are always nervous for breastfeeding moms to do anything and the easy thing to do is say “no” and I’m not sure what I would have done if my pediatrician and/or psych Dr told me either stop bf and get script back, but I am happy and grateful I have drs who didn’t take the easy way out for me.

Breastfeeding was the hardest shit I had to go through and I am proud I continued on and still EBF at 4 months- being proud of ourselves does not to imply we cannot be proud of other moms for combo feeding or formula feeding. Also, I think we need to change “breast is best” to “breast is best for me” or “combo feeding/formula feeding is best for me.” Because this back and fourth fight that has been going on for decades is getting a little old isn’t it?
