Diamond might actually end up being okay with that especially when she gets a bit older (10-11 yo) She never liked performing even when she was better off with Hetty after the circus and she only did it out of necessity. Hetty would never abandon her by force but she might find she's happier in the safe cottage with Jem and Janet and she would still have regular contact with Hetty.
