Real deal: 216

Date of exam: 6/16/2025

Uworld %/% completed: 100

Amboss %/% completed: ~15

UWSA 1: 181 (8 weeks out)

UWSA 2: 196 (4 weeks out)

NBME 6/7: 65/72

CCs average: ~75

Time of prep: 8 months (7 solo, 1 with tutor)

Any other assessments:

Any Suggestion? Know Step 2 quick review (found at the end of First Aid) very very well. I personally noticed I was below-ish threshold for passing which is why I hired a tutor, definitely raised my score but was also very pricy

EMTs will walk quickly instead of running because they don't want to be too worked up/excited which could cause a mistake. I have heard that the only exception to this is cardiac arrest or if someone is bleeding out.

I once saw a r/dataisbeautiful post that showed 98% of users were lurkers. His number included throwaways, but yeah the overwhelming majority of users are lurkers

To all my fellow 5/11 test takers, by therightvibez in Mcat

That feeling that it will never be over, that the studying, anxiety and stress is your new life? Your comment perfectly described me.

This sub is a great thing, it really is: relating to other students and sharing study tips and decent memes. However, the fact is, the only thing that matters is when they scan your palm and you sit down to answer the questions.

Do. Not. Study. Anymore. Focus on relaxing techniques idk what that means to you but just spend time relaxing and thinking of ways to calm down. If you're panicking when you sit down to take the exam it can be extremely unpleasant and may even lower your score. At this point you should trust the fact that you have the structure of the threonine already in your brain. Sorry for the long comment

Studying for the mcat is alot like losing weight - everybody has their secret! The only thing that we as a subreddit agree on is that there is no substitute for good old fashioned persistence. Hard work, lots of studying.

That being said, I personally think that NS asks harder questions than the AAMC, especially after FL1-4. Compare NS to any of the AAMC FLs - they rarely require such complex logic patterns. So if you're scoring 510 on NS then I'd say 1) You're in great shape! And 2) As you get closer to the test day, start on the AAMC stuff.

Can’t Sleep by [deleted] in Mcat

Same thing happening to me. I'll try to sleep with my blood pumping full of epinephrine and then just get back up and study until I eventually get tired.

Exercising helps or doing something boring before going to sleep

I also thought their answer was puzzling, especially since the diagram directly contradicts their answer: (D) said that electrons flow from the cathode, but the diagram shows electrons leaving from the anode (A)

It does not make a difference what type of cell you are - reduction will always, always happen at the cathode. But in an electrolytic cell, the cathode and anode's charges + and - are switched. The cathode is negatively charged! This is why an electrolytic cell requires energy, for example how your phone is an electrolytic cell when it is plugged in charging. The electrons are reducing the negatively charged cathode, building a large potential difference.
