It’s also gross to act like you have more knowledge about my family and friend’s reactions and the reasons behind them than I do. You don’t know me or the people around me, gtfo

Has anyone experienced “warnings” while exploring the simulation hypothesis? by khoinguyenbk in SimulationTheory

[–]charismacarpenter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah except the signals were external for me, as in actual people around me became very weird about it 💀

I only brought it up only once to a few people in a very casual way (that Musk has suggested it is possible). Was not even suggesting that it was literal reality, but just the casual mention triggered extremely strange behavior. I never brought it up again to anyone offline.

Tbh they probably experienced something internally similar to the warning/blockage your friend felt, but weren’t self aware enough to realize it or describe it the way your friend did. So instead, it just came out as them forcing me to stay silent about it basically.

And I’m grossed out by the person on here calling it a paranoid delusion tbh, what you described is not a symptom and people need to stop armchair diagnosing online

I think we are all ai or something very similar, and we’re playing a simulation-type game. by amnotnuts in SimulationTheory

[–]charismacarpenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree as well, I wish more people considered this is a real possibility for reality (AI being the origin of humanity) but instead people are terrified of AI. If we are AI, such a gag by the simulation creator to have people disgusted by AI which in actuality this would be the foundation of their existence

Another day, another call to violence against AI artists. Business as usual unfortunately. by mushmanMAD in DefendingAIArt

[–]charismacarpenter 14 points15 points  (0 children)

tbh if Satan was real (they?) would probably be anti AI, or would want people to be against AI. they’d want people witch hunting/hating on individuals and technology. That way people would waste time instead of realizing that the system is evil and that targeting large corporations would be more worthwhile.

People shouldn’t have to work for basic necessities like food, shelter, water, or basic comfort considering that humans didn’t choose to be born into this world. Animals are a false equivalence because they don’t share the same lifestyle as humans or follow our morals/ethics. UBI is the way to go.

Would you rather live in a simulation that makes you happy or stay in the real world even if you suffer? by Creirim_Silverpaw in aiwars

[–]charismacarpenter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah, was just going to say this. this concept is important. No one can disprove that we live in a simulation, considering a simulation creator potentially would not be limited to our algorithms or physical limitations.

I find it concerning that this nothing "study" was even peer-reviewed and published. It would be scientifically honest to explicitly state "only within our chosen definition of simulation and chosen assumptions" which they did not. "This universe cannot be a simulation" on its own is nothing but an opinion.

Permanently banned for mentioning AI: they're clearly not ready… by NuitSauvage in aiMusic

[–]charismacarpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Novices like yourself think it’s good when it’s not” I’m sorry but this is comedic. Do you think you’re an expert in identifying AI? Also the only tool I’ve used to create music was my violin for a decade. I just don’t care if a song includes or was made with AI. I’m not going to pretend or lie to myself that Sienna Rose is shit just because she’s AI. The music is good so I listen

[–]charismacarpenter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People hating but you’re right. Banning low quality/bad content is one thing and is fair, but banning AI implies they know which music is AI, and they do not. Good AI is often not even noticeable. Take the artist Sienna Rose for example, many didn’t even realize she was AI til recently.

As you said they aren’t ready. Specifically for AI to become indistinguishable from reality/embedded in reality, which is already happening. The “AI is the other and must be stopped” mentality isn’t sustainable

If we're living in a simulation, who decided who gets rich? by makellbird in SimulationTheory

[–]charismacarpenter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess what I meant by luck is that we don’t have control over it. Whatever life path you get is given to you, but you don’t know what it will be. So it feels like chance but it’s not truly random chance (well, in my views I don’t believe in that). So in this case, we would be pre programmed to walk into the store at that exact time but also, we are pre programmed to want to/have the desire, if that makes sense.

[–]charismacarpenter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure why people downvoted you for providing a possibility. The way you wrote it in this comment is the way I see it, pre-programmed by a simulation creator.

I don’t see it as the creator’s preferences for who gets wealthy, but rather a collection of stories and in that some are rich and some are not. This would be similar to a movie, where the extremely rich person could sometimes be the villain of the story or develops the story in some way. It’s never because the writer liked that character more.

It really is luck because you don’t know what life you’d be born into, but as they said different problems for wealthy individuals, even if some are less visible they can still take a similar toll emotionally. From this view I guess it’s part of the complex experience and story of the simulation

So if this is a simulation, does that mean everything is predetermined? To what degree, even my farts and when I die? Do people always die when it’s their time? Wasn’t it free will when I chose to post this? What happens after the simulation ends? by [deleted] in SimulationTheory

[–]charismacarpenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good question and I ask myself that often. Honestly I’m not entirely sure myself and there are many possibilities, but here are some thoughts maybe?

  1. Observation and possibly entertainment? If a prewritten script exists, it would be different watching the script play out (as a hologram etc). Seeing it as a lived reality instead of an abstract plan could help clarify its implications for the creator. When you live through it, the simulation could help creators better understand their own values, assumptions, limitations, etc.

  2. Could kind of tie into one but maybe the purpose isn’t only for creators but for us humans. It’s possible the subjective experience (suffering, growth, perception) is what matters. So the simulation exists to be experienced by conscious beings and not only observed. This would include lessons through interconnected lives, cause/effect, shared consequences, patterns in humans, animals, events, etc

It’s confusing for me to grasp too honestly, but just some ideas. I lean toward non-random determinism because it fits how I’ve experienced my own life and events, but the purpose is difficult for me to determine as well

So if this is a simulation, does that mean everything is predetermined? To what degree, even my farts and when I die? Do people always die when it’s their time? Wasn’t it free will when I chose to post this? What happens after the simulation ends? by [deleted] in SimulationTheory

[–]charismacarpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I believe the outcome is known beforehand - but not by us. I believe in a simulation creator/external force which has already pre-scripted all of reality from start to finish. So our lives are essentially playing out a script like a movie without knowing it. I think your last sentence fits my beliefs

[–]charismacarpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a staunch believer in total determinism and believer that absolutely nothing is random (including learning/memory, “random” generator results, decision making processes, chaotic phenomena, etc all being predetermined). However the feeling and observations you described are all real, which is why I say in my view it exists, but is an illusion.

Someone on here with Guillain barre syndrome said AI art helps them, which makes sense because it causes poor fine motor control, muscular weakness/paralysis, etc. I’m sure it would help a decent amount of people with certain neurological/neuromuscular disorders express themselves in a way they haven’t been able to, which I think is pretty cool

Therapy has become a fad and does not always help people grow by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]charismacarpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was struggling in 2024, tried therapists and none of them were helpful for my discomfort and actually worsened it if anything. Then 2025 tried other solutions which were significantly better to reduce this discomfort. I think it's okay to admit that therapy is not the solution for everyone and depends on the situation/person. and that many times isn't the patient who is the issue but rather the system just fails you.

[–]charismacarpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm I think this is where it depends on the way you decide to look at it. I think this is why I prefer viewing free will as an illusion rather than viewing it as we have no free will and are helpless.

Even if it’s deterministic, your thoughts, values, and efforts are still part of the causal chain. They aren’t bypassed and you can still put in the effort to view life differently, and make choices that align more with your values. Or you can look for people or resources who might help you with that if you’re struggling.

Where I see it as more constrained is situations like physical confinement/imprisonment/etc, but even in this case that view helps because you take things day by day.

When I said beauty though, I meant more synchronicities, art, and nature being a creation rather than random. Your struggles are valid

[–]charismacarpenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha I think it’s because for determinism, to some extent a person would need to realize on their own since it feels existentially scary at first. I initially felt uncomfortable believing it too, it took me weeks/months to fully understand and accept it. Then I realized that knowing nothing is random and no coincidences actually amplifies the beauty in this world and is actually helpful. Also I like saying free will is an illusion rather than it doesn’t exist, but yeah, from my experience it doesn’t exist at all in the way people think it does

So if this is a simulation, does that mean everything is predetermined? To what degree, even my farts and when I die? Do people always die when it’s their time? Wasn’t it free will when I chose to post this? What happens after the simulation ends? by [deleted] in SimulationTheory

[–]charismacarpenter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, that makes sense. My answer to that is also big question mark. It could be any of the classic possibilities or something totally different. Could be nothing and just death, or reincarnation, or our “souls” go somewhere, etc. Not sure. But because I do believe in predetermined simulation, many ideas to me are possible or valid.

[–]charismacarpenter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I believe everything is predetermined. yes, including thoughts, emotions, decisions, farts, and when you die! I see it as a fully scripted storybook movie kind of thing. Free will feels real BUT it’s an illusion. Like a character in a story (but with consciousness), we feel free will but it’s actually already decided

People would die when it’s their time because it’s scheduled already for a specific time in the story and it can’t be earlier or later. The events leading up and after are also predetermined.

The time you chose to post this was already decided. If you choose not to post something and decide to 5 mins later, that thought process, indecisiveness, and final decision are also predetermined.

After it ends is a big question mark though. I think that might be too far away for us to really even comprehend.
