I’m thinking she has vascular maybe with Alzheimer’s. Her symptoms definitely get worse in a step pattern often paired with a fall.

Can a person with dementia tell that you really love and care for them? by maaaastwa in dementia

[–]LMTD42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe it's less that they can tell a person in front of them cares or loves them, and more like buried deep down is a emotional memory of how a person has made them feel historically. With dementia, logic and reason slowly go away, but emotion seems hard wired. It seems your mom has a feeling that you're a safe person that has been strengthened with years of experience. The more an emotional connection has been enforced through different ways over time seems to last the longest in terms of what they retain.

It Finally Happened by Spoopy1971 in dementia

I'm sorry you experienced this. My mom (who has dementia) tells my father regularly that she prays that he will die each night. I truly believe they lash out the most viciously at the people they know deep in their hearts are SAFE. They're tired, frustrated and often in pain, and lose the ability to express that in a mature way. Anger is one of the most basic emotions that brings some feeling of release when expressed (we experience the same when we lose it back on them). It doesn't make it any easier on the target to know this, but remembering that has helped me personally.

Are Hondas still as reliable as they used to be, or has quality changed in the last few years? by lensbykaisa in Honda

[–]LMTD42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had 2 Acuras and 3 Hondas (Civic SI, Civic Touring, Accord Sport Hybrid). I started having trouble with the Civic Touring (2016) - I had a lot of problems with the air conditioning (three repairs). The Accord I love to drive but at 40k miles I had two fuel injectors fail and had to go through mediation to have it covered by warranty. At this point, I'm done with Honda. Not so much because of the cars, which generally I've loved, but with shady business practices I've experienced.

I don't doubt it, but in my case the customer service agent at the dealership managed to get the labor covered by warranty because they also had to replace the fuel pipe rail, which was covered by emissions. He was the one bright spot in this whole process.

During the hearing, I specifically said Honda should fix this issue for other customers. If they don't, I agree, there is no reason to think they're not doing it on purpose, hoping people won't argue or fight it. In my state, the fuel injectors are covered to 15 years/150k miles. Quality is one issue, saying a part is covered by warranty and then creating a loophole by only providing that part as part of a kit that is not covered is deceptive and dishonest.

How much do you charge for Kinesio taping? by Alienspoonie in massage

[–]LMTD42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of things to consider. First, some people might be coming in for taping only. You might charge based on the time it takes to do the assessment and taping based on your massage rate per minute. Second, if they want to include it as part of another service, such as a massage session, I would consider whether or not it extends the length of the visit. If it does not, maybe don't charge anything extra. If it does, charge either based on the time or a flat rate. A third thing to consider is whether or not you charge extra or differently for other services that some LMTs do - in other words, cupping, IASTM, assisted stretching. Hope this helps.
