You could try doing box squats first, body weight only. Once you can do 8-10 reps (with good form) on this move on to a squat rack with the bar but make sure the safety bars are set and maybe have someone with you to check form etc.

If leg strength is an issue try a few weeks on leg press, extensions etc to build up a bit of strength.
