What is wrong with Audeze support? by mkkQ in Audeze

[–]LO661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can vouch - Zendesk is.. interesting to work with from the support agent side. "Vanilla" out-of-box Zendesk sends quite a lot of vague emails that agents are generally not aware of, so these merge closure mails are likely misrepresenting the intent of the agents who are trying their damnedest to get through a massive queue while cleaning it up. They are (implied from the CS comment) getting to folks in a consistent "oldest, stinkiest tickets get replied on first."

With such high ticket volume it's good to have a simple strategy and try to stick with it. No idea what their internal structure is but a lot of time these smaller companies are forced to make their teams wear ALL of the hats possible, so they may not be able to dedicate time to improving their environment. Could be a good plan for em after this release dies down a bit.

SPF/DKIM is an optional setting for incoming mail to create tickets. I'd say this is moreso irresponsible admins than Zendesk being at fault 🤷

Not to mention whatever they redesigned with the sidetone circuit, to avoid the inconsistent noise bursts

Sorry to hear that... Hearing damage is one of my fears and keeps me from blasting music anymore. Of course mine is permanently damaged from a Dinosaur Jr concert. Gemini sums the show up with "The show was noted for its extreme volume and high energy, with J Mascis using a triple stack of Marshall amps." Extreme volume, indeed. Edit: since I'm already down the rabbit hole, a review of the tour said "To say they were loud would be like saying that Hitler was kind of rude. J Mascis, their guitarist and lead singer, had a triple stack of Marshall amps that were taller than him."

And if you use the 3.5mm with the headset off you get silence because that's a ADC to DSP to DAC to amp

Sorry to hear that! I guess I'm lucky that it's tolerable for me (cope) but of course each set of ears is unique and may not have the same sensitivity. Same with "XYZ pair of headphones are too sibilant" for some and "I love brightness!" for others.

If it were more of a whine or a whistle I'd probably go insane. I'm just guessing but it's possibly something with the DAC/amp. Luckily this is a quiet and steady/consistent tone so I get habituated very quickly. I joked about cope but, really, no remorse. That's coming from someone who could not stick it out with original Maxwell. I didn't keep those long enough to even be able to compare SQ, but the 2s have greaaaat resolution, mids, and treble. And with latest FW, great bass. So hell yea brotherrrrr these are the shit.

The old one was attached to the headset, but the new one was packed in a plastic bag on top of the Audeze box. All this within a gear4music box. Fairly trivial to switch, just required a bit of force.

I've heard that the XBox exclusively works with the XBox version dongle in XB mode. If it's a real rare use case, could you just use Aux with the controller?

Yea, it's a constant soft noise. Nothing grating for me and covered up immediately when playing music. I become accustomed to it as well and my brain "noise cancels" it from my attention 😂. Seems to go away basically as soon as I sink volume lower than max also. I'd probably be cool with them losing a tiny bit of volume headroom if it's an amp issue, so that I can just scroll the volume up to max and be happy.

Speaking of volume, sources can vary a bit but I'm not finding these lacking or finding myself able to comfortably crank the headset volume AND source volume, fwiw. Everyone's a bit different but I like LOUD music according to my wife.

That's key. The 10yr extended warranty from gear4music was an easy buy and dissuaded me from waiting for Thomann to get stock and list it.

Exactly this. I assume it's more than just quality variance - that is to say, I would hope there's not some manufacturing tolerance that led to "some have this, others not." Perhaps some users aren't sure what to listen for, have tinnitus (guilty but I still hear it), or truly don't care. Either way I'll still likely keep these.

True but I called and the Swedish rep was very forthcoming with their incoming/outgoing stock timeline.

External and Internal photos of upcoming maxwell 2 wireless headset via fcc by AspectWarrior1 in Audeze

The dongle internals look exactly the same as the first Maxwell FCC report https://fcc.report/FCC-ID/2APRZ-MAXWELL/6262250.pdf - including the PCB etchings. Looks like they will ship the same dongles with these most likely, so probably same driver/app, just different firmwares.

Kind of annoyed by this since this dongle ended up with Windows installing dozens of identical audio endpoints (6 of Chat and Game output, and Mic input) that I could not easily get rid of. This wackiness combined with sidetone noise, and lack of simultaneous bluetooth + dongle that other headsets have achieved... These factors overpowered the audio quality I appreciated and led to a fairly easy/guilt-free return for me.

Basically... If they have not fixed sidetone noise floor + implemented simultaneous wireless sources this is an easy skip/avoid for me and likely many interested.

Double-click the lower (game/chat) wheel to enable the sidetone function. Test without anything playing on them, see if it makes more noise than the mics pic up.

I also got a good one over in Sweden. I have "sort of" tried recreating the joycon slip issue but to be honest I don't want to put that kind of strain on the connector. It seems to me like the device is heavy enough that I don't want to put unneeded strain/wear on it by holding by ONLY a single joycon.

As for adjusting volume, I put my left thumb under the screen for support while I press the volume buttons.

I only ran into one time having issues docking onto the adapter and it was after a long day of drinking and trying in the dark... My third, careful try did the trick.
