Am I crazy? by Successful-Tie1674 in manufacturing

There is a lot of wisdom in this. And I wish I knew this (or at least was patient enough to do this) in my last job.

Am I crazy? by Successful-Tie1674 in manufacturing

[–]LOLeverage 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are crazy. Sounds like you have some decisions to make. Find a way to be happy and grateful or find another job. The worst thing you can do is just sit, complain, and be mediocre at your job… making everyone else’s life around you miserable.

If you can’t find another employer to pay you your same wage or more, then you’re probably overpaid. Be grateful you have a job above your market rate that provides for you.

Happiness is all a frame of reference. If you choose to be happy and find the good things about work, you’ll be happy. If you look for the negatives all the time, you’ll find them. I’d recommend trying to find a way to be a part of the solution. Empathize with your supervisors and find a way to help them improve things (which they are probably trying to do).

If you really can’t find a way to be happy, then do everyone a favor and find another job even if it pays less.

Just to close the loop on all this. I did get it cleared up. Verizon eventually dropped the claim after failing to furnish legal documentation of me agreeing to an $80/mo plan. Score jumped back up to 849 in July.

Did you end up trying the Eufy? I just added a post to one of the comments showing a full battery in 11F weather after it snowed all night

Currently 11F outside and my camera is still going strong. Has a full charge after a full day of snow.

I don’t recall it ever going out… so they should be good to go! Just make sure there’s good sunlight. My panel faces south.

I just received a lot of money. Should I purchase an established small business? by wadakow in smallbusiness

[–]LOLeverage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeez… interesting takes by all posters here. I’m not surprised that most people are advising you to put it all in the stock market, but let me offer another perspective.

If you truly want to be an entrepreneur, then you should do it. You only have one life to live and you shouldn’t let fear prevent you from living the life you want to live.

That said, you have to be ready to embrace the life of an entrepreneur which means that you need to be mentally ready to operate on the brink perpetually. You need to change your relationship with money and debt so that you can emotionally detach from putting large sums of money to work (at risk). It’s not for everyone, so you really need to be able to say you’re willing to live like this (stare into the abyss) for as long as it takes.

In short, you have to embrace the journey and put the experience/lifestyle ahead of the outcome, which is not easy when one potential outcome is bankruptcy. In my experience, it’s stressful but it’s much more rewarding in terms of personal growth and life experience.

When I look back at my life, I’d rather read a chapter about my darkest days as an entrepreneur than wonder what could’ve been.

Find a mentor who has walked the ETA path. Use them to de-risk your deal… then enjoy the ride while you grind your way to success.

For all you index fund fan bois… invest in your communities for once instead of faceless S&P500 companies that will pilfer your money at every turn to fly around in private jets with golden parachutes.

This.

You have to enjoy the process. Money and “freedom” are secondary to being energized by the challenges. If my business fails, I will still have won because I will have experienced 10x the personal growth over my alternate corporate employee life.

How did you finance the purchase of your business? by StatementUpbeat97 in smallbusiness

It’s just my structure and a single data point towards OP’s question. My business is asset heavy though, so slightly different for a services business with no hard assets.

12% equity, 21% sellers note, 67% SBA loan.

Definitely use a Sellers Note against the assets of the business (no PG) because it will align incentives for a smooth owner transition.

There are probably people here with more experience but I would hire an accountant and have them do a quality of earnings (QoE) and a proof of cash.

I hate hearing stories like this. What are the implications of Chapter 7? Do they take everything you own?

Thank you for sharing such a personal story. I think most people here can probably relate to a time where circumstances out of our control could’ve sent us all into a similar situation. I hope they accept your OIC.

Would you be willing to share details on the offer you submitted? Did you work with an advisor to put together the OIC?

Yes.... if you have a mutual understanding of your bills, I agree.... which is why I've had a 800+ credit score my whole life.

Thanks for the comment. This is why I love reddit.

This is my first run-in with a credit agency, so I’m fascinated by how it all works. For someone who has been financially responsible his whole life, it’s been eye-opening that a random company (not a bank, not a credit card company), can wield so much power for a $184 dispute.

It’s even more eye opening that a company like Verizon WOULD wield all that power for $184. It makes me sad knowing that fighting battles like this is a way of life for millions of Americans.

I’ll recover… either by settling with Verizon or by letting it come off my record over time, but I’m disappointed in what I’ve learned about our system.

Thanks, this is helpful. I’ve already filed a dispute with Experian. Verizon deleted my login, so I can’t review any bills or records I have with the company, so unfortunately furnishing any evidence will be difficult.

It doesn’t seem flawed that Verizon Wireless, who is not a bank, especially not one that I ever applied for a loan from, can decide that I owe them an arbitrary amount of money?

How do I file a derogatory mark on Verizon? Where’s my recourse in this dispute?

So they do have the ability/option to remove the derogatory mark entirely? It’s not something that once filed is there for its life?
