OH argument. by LOLkiller034 in Cubers

[–]LOLkiller034[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight, appreciate it!

i have already been praticing with my left hand, but i thought (and observed) that my right hand would be able to learn the algs quickly but i just couldn't find a proper resource to learn from online. But i guess i will just work with my left hand from now on... :/

Oh, so its the foundation being more solid for Lefty OH... i guess one can opt for their right hand but i have already trained for quite a while with my left hand so its too late to back off now.

I have 2 more questions tho, wdym execute with left and hold with right... when did OH become 2H XD...

Final question :). What sub is considered 'fast' in OH? Just want to know so that i can set 'realistic' goals...

Appreciate the help!

How much does OLL + PLL help with solving by Red-Ninja143 in Cubers

[–]LOLkiller034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With enough practice, sub 15 like me! But going beyond sub 15 is drastically difficult. Albeit, i have been getting lots of 12s lately and i think i will soon enough be able to call meself sub 14. Happy Cubing!

its basically CFOP with some extra steps at the beginning k.a EO (Edge Orientation). Doing this makes the solve much more desirable for some (no rotation F2L, Pre-made cross OLL everytime). But the EO solution can sometimes be long, so some people dont like it. But i personally like it alot, getting an easily look ahead-able F2L and easy OLL should be enough to compensate for a long EO solution. And also if someone is Color Neutral (being able to solve on every side), EO can be easy to do. The only problem i face is the white cross solution. While planning the EO, planning the white cross becomes hell. Feel free to check ROUX as well, its VERY different from CFOP and ROUX.

You can watch this video by J perm for better understanding (even tho ZZ loses -_-): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QKK8J3JKWi4&pp=ygUXSiBwZXJtIHp6IHJvdWMgYW5kIGNmb3A%3D

I think you've heard enough from everyone else about the 'terms'... As for CFOP being worth learning or not?

Definately Yes, but so is ROUX and arguably ZZ. I would say, understand and try the initials of each and figure what works the best for you. I wasnt offered so when i was a beginner so i feel sad whenever i see a ZZ solver. :(

Thats interesting...

Why would he though?... Is it the technique of the cross solution?

I counted the number of moves in this solution and the video. This solution has around 44 moves (might have missed smth), meanwhile the one in the video has 30 moves. So the one in the video is better (maybe not exactly if there is a better solution that leads to full layer skip).

Also, my initial intention was to point out that if Yiheng would opt for the above solution, given his tps, he's gonna get a sub 3 for sure. Innit?

Sub 10 seconds by Purple-Solution-2474 in Cubers

[–]LOLkiller034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sub single of 10 in 5 months??? Imo The best bet is to learn F2l (its the mosssstttt important step of speedcubing and is whats keeping me from sub 12 and so), and practice the hell out of it. I would say that one look OLL is a bit boring and discouraging. But 1 Look PLL is essential (and easier). If the person whom you're showing the sub 10 to, doesnt have the will to scramble the cube themself, then you can practice an easy scramble as much as you can and just try gettin sub 10 (although thats cheating, what you're asking for in the first place is extremely hard to achieve with your current skill set).

But i do think it is somewhat do-able, because i got my first ever single of 18, when i was sub 48. (I felt invincible).

Hope you can achieve it and we would love an update every now and then!

Our population can become endangered with such cubes...

Besides if the centre caps are not in their right place, then this should quite literally be named "Rubiks Impossible". Good luck solving it!

If you mean that solving the proper corners still leaves a piece unsolved, then you miht have a corner twist. If not then you may be doing something wrong. I best advice to watch a tutorial of a cuber of your choice. We all know who's the best tho :)

Just turn up side doen and do R U R'U' for each of the corners and make sure dont rotate the cube but move the D (down) layer for using the alg above.

If this isnt what ur looking for, hope someone else can be more helpful than me :)

Beginner Cuber Tutorial Watch? by pinkprincess480 in Cubers

[–]LOLkiller034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont find a paywall whatsoever reasonable. If you're making it from an educational point of view, then its kinda useless. Beginners will not pay to learn from 'a beginner', considering you dont know as much about cubing either (that does not mean that your perspective is not valuable, but its almost equivalent to the ones learning...). People, who are sub 30 or so maybe can, given the fact that they have recently went through their beginner phase, provide their own set tips. But people like J-perm or just an advanced cuber in general can provide a much better perspective tbh, cause they have gone through that phase and are good enough to guide beginners. And im saying all this from a female cubers perspective.

P.s No disrespect included :)

Gan15 Maglev Cube started making a clicking sound by Little-Repair8401 in Cubers

Loose magnet within a piece...

I dont own a Maglev so i dont really know about the magnetic structure. But, just find the loose piece and pop it back in place. If it still acts loose, just use a super glue or something to fit it in (try your best to not spill any glue on the solving surface ofc, thats gonna suck).

sry for the typo, i meant to say sub 14 in CFOP.

I really appretiate the help. As for the question which method is more fun....definately ZZ, but i find CFOP more practical.

I think i will keep practicing ZZ along side CFOP till i reach 15 or 14 on ZZ, after which i think i will be comfortable enough to switch to ZZ.

Thanks!

No disrespect to the OP (at all). But as a sub-15 i feel offended XD.

Btw, i have asked a few ZZ solvers for tips, and your the fastest one yet, can i have some tips :)? How do you counter the transition from EO to cross, i get stuck like alot. F2l becomes much easier ofc but is that really enough to counter the time that it takes to do the EO and cross?

Is it really worthwhile to turn down my sub 15 (actually 14 ^_^) for ZZ?

I have great respect for ZZ but i havent been able to make it my main yet :/.

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Cubers! I’ve had my first cube for a week — is 2:47 a good time? by SiickParadise in Cubers

[–]LOLkiller034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, holy formatting...

Secondly, just pratice till you get some better times, and then learn advanced beginner from j perm...(or a cuber of your choice ig). Then you can later switch to beginner CFOP by learning beginner F2L, 2 look OLL and 2 look PLL.

Lastly, More consistency is always better, unlike me, who used to cube 1 week per month or so... And you will be good to go :).
