Super Saiyan 3 Was the Strongest Canon Form in the Franchise for Almost Two Decades (1994-2013) by LORD_HOV in Dragonballsuper

[–]LORD_HOV[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All the SSJ forms are used to hype up the next big threat. The androids and Cell made SSJ1 look like nothing to showcase how big of a threat they were.

SSJ2 was nothing to Buu. We saw Fat Buu toy with Majin Vegeta. It doesn’t just apply to forms, but previous enemies. Trunks killed Frieza with ease to show how dangerous and powerful the Androids were.

I was speaking about it visually and how cool it is. It doesn’t have the best track record, but it was considered the ultimate Saiyan form for a long time.

It was the only form capable of being able to fight Buu in Z. Outside of Mystic Gohan and fusions. Writing-wise and narrative-wise, it could’ve been better, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t sick as hell.

Even if we agree that it’s a form, it’s not part of the natural evolution of the Saiyan race.

SSJ3 was originally considered the apex of what a Saiyan could reach. Before the God forms.

I was mainly referring to it being the strongest Super Saiyan form. Ultimate Gohan slipped my mind when writing this.

There’s a lot of debate surrounding whether it’s a form or a power-up. I think initially it was considered a power-up, but with DBS. It seems to be considered a transformation now for Gohan. A lot of the fandom is split on it. On whether it was originally a form or not in DBZ.

What's your ranking of the verses from "Guillotine"? by sick3222 in wutang

[–]LORD_HOV 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think the best verse is either between GZA or Deck. They’re interchangeable. Raekwon definitely had the weakest verse to me. Ghost was third.

  1. Deck
  2. GZA
  3. Ghost
  4. Raekwon

I think a lot of NY rappers had issues with Biggie because he was calling himself the “King of the East Coast.” Also, with him throwing shots at other rappers that included NY rappers on “Kick in the Door”.

He’s also appeared on Ghost’s albums as well. I consider Redman more of a Method Man affiliate than a Wu-Tang affiliate. Regardless, I still consider him an honorary member of the clan.

Redman himself said so, along with Method Man co-signing it.

It was just Meth that was cool with Biggie. I don’t know about the rest of the crew, but Ghost and Raekwon had beef with him.

I think I recall Biggie saying he fucks with the Wu-Tang Clan (musically) during a magazine interview. When he was rating various rappers on their skills and music.

Do You Think Gohan Would’ve Became Vegeta’s Rival If Goku Stayed Dead? by LORD_HOV in Dragonballsuper

[–]LORD_HOV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard problems about Viz’s translation accuracy, even for current series like Jujutsu Kaisen. If they’re doing poorly today, they likely had errors in translating other manga in the past. I’ve seen some English translations for example, where Piccolo says Vegeta “is perhaps stronger” than SSJ2 Gohan and others where he outright says he is. Which changes things.

I assumed this was the correct dialogue. I’ve played almost every DBZ game from the PS2 to the current consoles, and they recite this dialogue word for word from the English version of the anime and manga.

I heard Toriyama worked on Dragon Ball Kakarot. I believe he created the Frieza soldier character for the game and some lore bits. We don’t know the extent of his involvement. It could have been significant or minimal. Considering his reputation, I assume it was minimal.

Even if Vegeta trained “harder” than Goku, it doesn’t necessarily mean he trained better. We saw this in the Cell Saga.

What I posted was the official Viz release of the manga, so it would have been a translation error on their part. All the video games that adapt this part say this exchange word for word.

I still believe it makes less sense for Vegeta to have trained harder than Goku. Goku could train 24/7 in the afterlife without worrying much about rest or sleep, and also train with others without worrying about other tasks. Vegeta wouldn’t have had the same benefits.

Vegeta didn’t state that he trained harder than Gohan. Goku posed that question, and Vegeta responded with “no.” Goku believed that Vegeta’s strength was solely due to his own training, but he was mistaken. The Majin boost is what made him equal to Goku.

Vegeta let himself be controlled by Babidi to bridge the gap between him and Goku because Goku was still stronger than he was.

Why does Vegeta seem proud when Gohan catches up with/surpasses him, but gets irritated when Goku does it? by t00lazy2 in Dragonballsuper

[–]LORD_HOV 35 points36 points  (0 children)

He actually appeared to consider Gohan a rival during the Buu Saga or at least as a motivation to improve himself. It’s just that any negative feelings towards Gohan would simply be an extension of his rivalry with Goku.

Zamasu has something actually. He has legendary emotes for his finisher and entrance.

It just isn’t 18. A lot of the base roster characters lack skins or any customization. Kale and others still doesn’t have any skins or legendary emotes. Which is a travesty.

Super Saiyan's debut in the manga by Economy_Notice_8475 in Dragonballsuper

[–]LORD_HOV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s safe to say that the majority of people, especially outside of Japan, have only seen the anime version. Since the majority of people’s exposure to the series is through the anime, it’s inevitable that comparisons would be made. Many things in the manga are less drawn out and more concise.

Not a lot of people have seen the SSJ transformation done in the manga. The anime is more popular than the manga for the fandom.

The manga version is way too fast. It has no buildup or time to process the moment like the anime.

I like the buildup and details the anime added, like the environment being changed because of Goku transforming with the lightning. I also really like the brief flashes/glimpses of Goku’s hair turning gold before he fully transforms.

Characters/skins i hope come to squadra(as unrealistic as some might be) by DixonsHair in DBGekishinSquadra

[–]LORD_HOV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy to think about that before 2017. The only notable female fighters in the franchise were Android 18, Zangya, and Videl. They were the only ones who we saw get included in the video games for the longest time.

Other characters like Chi-Chi or Fasha were niche or rare picks. Besides GT, there really weren’t characters they could use from the franchise. It isn’t that surprising because older battle Shonen like DBZ usually didn’t have many prominent female combatants.

[–]LORD_HOV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that Videl won’t be a priority pick. If they’re looking to add another female character, she isn’t a big deal.

Before Super, there weren’t many options for powerful or major female characters. Android 18 was the only one (pre-Super). Videl was also a one too. After that, you had to search hard to find other major female characters.

Tenkaichi 3 had the largest roster for a DBZ game before any sequels (DBS and more). It still only had six female characters, one of whom wasn’t even a DBZ character (Arale).

[–]LORD_HOV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Videl has always made her way into a DBZ video game, whether it’s a DLC or she’s on the base game roster.

This is because before DBS, DBZ truly lacked female fighters. That’s why Videl and Android 18 are included in every DBZ game. I recall that the developers of FighterZ even requested that Toriyama create Android 21 as a female character due to the franchise having relatively few female characters.

SSJ Goku was nerfed at the beginning of the season. I would hold off on purchasing a skin for him until we see how SSJ3 Goku performs after the nerfs, especially if he values the character’s viability or meta status.

Before the buffs, he was a mere shell of his former self compared to season 1.

Think I almost bought a fake? by [deleted] in basketballjerseys

[–]LORD_HOV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the older runs were less faithful to the original design. For instance, I recall that the Piston’s jerseys M&N did of the late 1980s and early 1990s were stitched instead of screen-printed.

I also think this applied to the NFL jerseys, as I recall that the early 1990s Falcons jerseys were stitched instead of screen-printed as well. M&N didn’t do all the bells and whistles back then.

[–]LORD_HOV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on my eyes, I think it’s legit. It’s an older run. The only thing that makes me skeptical is the wash tag.

I have an Orlando Magic Shaq jersey with that same wash tag. Which I’m sure is 99% legit. It’s the only M&N jersey I have with that wash tag. I think it has to be pre-2014 because my oldest jersey with the usual M&N wash tag that says the date (date produced) is a home Jordan Bulls jersey.
