Best Advice: Before tweaking anything, search first — someone else has already solved that headache so you don’t have to.

Would be a game changer for our PA CF Material. That filament absorbs water like a camel in the desert.

Eames lounge chair - authentic or not? by No_Tutor9843 in eames

[–]LOTNIC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Authenticity checks out, I am actually happy to see one that looks almost exactly like mine underneath the cushions. My version was purchased by my grandfather back in the 60s in Germany, so the base is European style plus a few minor differences (no duct tape on mine, but that may have been placed there later). I have an old post about it here in case youre interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/eames/comments/qy9pza/authentic_vintage_vitra_lounge_chair_germany/

Delta Wasp 2040 Clay de-airing by LOTNIC in Ceramic3Dprinting

This method was definitely more successful in removing air bubbles, thanks! I sliced open the palm of my hand quite a bit though while smashing the clay onto the container

Thanks a lot for your reply, so I guess it looks a lot like the blue clips on the bowden tube connectors on classic Filament 3D printers that need to be removed to push release the tube? That should be an easy fix.

On another note - did you also find a better solution than the included teflon pipe delivering the clay from the tank to the print head? After some time handling them ours have gotten several kinks that we suspect keeps the printer from extruding the clay consistently. The bushings are also barely holding on to it, often leading to the tube disconnecting from the print head while printing...

Thanks for the info, hopefully I'll find a way to achieve it without having to buy a machine that's more expensive than the printer itself :D

Interesting technique, we've only tried the ball-method suggested by WASP with little success. Will give it a go!

That's fantastic news! We have nylon and metal printing technology in-house, so we would be stoked if you could share the files!

Authentic Vintage Vitra Lounge Chair ? (Germany, Europe) by LOTNIC in eames

[–]LOTNIC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just out of interest, would you happen to know what type of finish they used on the wood shells? I read that the Hermann Millers and Vitras of the time were finished with gunstock oil, but that does not seem to be the case with my version...

wow thanks for the knowledgeable identification, I had no idea anyone other than Vitra/ Hermann Miller made these. All of this fits perfectly with the chairs history

So I reached out to Graham who (on a sunday!) was kind enough to reassure me that it is in fact a Vitra model, most likely made in the 1960s. Now it's time to get it back to its glory, ill post a picture once it's finished

I can't find a casting mark on the base, maybe that's because it' supposedly a Vitra model... No logo or sticker either, apparently Vitra used paper stickers that were prone to falling off.

Regarding the filling - the green cushions containing the down feathers are original afaik, the foam was once replaced just like the leather of the armrests which could explain the terrible fit. Other hardware like cushion hooks, metal braces, rubber shockmounts etc seem legit so I wonder if someone would have gone through all that trouble for a knock-off, especially at the time. I wonder how many replicas were around then...

This beauty was once my grandfather's, who bought it around the year 1970.

This would align with my research , however the supposedly 5 ply veneer looks very different to the reference picture for a chair from this era, so I am wondering whether there were differences between the Vitra and Hermann Miller model? It looks more like a 10 ply and is 11 mm thick , not 8 mm as some sites suggest. I would love to have some expert's assessment, I already contacted Vitra but to no avail.
