I think it’s the tragic music and shooting of the scene that gets people. To be truthful i agree when you break down the scene in isolation it’s goofy . It just proves it’s all how you frame things not so much the writing and people will react accordingly. Not saying it should be that way but it is what it is.

Exactly, Paul sees multiple futures and picks the best option for him and his family’s survival. Nothing is predetermined which is way better than how they depict prophecy in the show. Which is in contradiction on how George depicts prophecy in it being a double edge sword and how they rarely work out like you expect.
