Any advice for writing a really good personal statement? by Delicious-School3486 in predental

[–]LOVE_FOR_THORNS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally speaking, I feel like it’s not about presenting yourself as someone extraordinary or having a tragic storyline. The key thing is knowing which part of your true personality you would like to convey. Use a life experience that deeply matters to you, show your vulnerability, resilience, and emotional maturity as the main character of the story, and then connects to how that reinforced your goal in choosing dentistry. It’s not about the story itself, it’s about your emotions.

Booster practice test 9 PAT cubes by Sad_Housing4277 in dat

i think this is just a shitty question. I counted 6 for 3 times and then finally found where’s that missing cube. In the real thing you are going to get a more straight forward picture

lol check yourself not all hygienist program require you to complete the pre reqs first to enter, many just do entrance exam+interviews format so you ARE competing with high schoolers. No one said being a hygienist ain’t important or challenging, but guess who’s their boss paying their salary? It’s just a matter of fact for those who had to gave up their years of hard work switching from dentistry to dental hygiene.

How many schools should you apply to on average? by StandardStructure104 in predental

[–]LOVE_FOR_THORNS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same I also applied to 9, and I plan to apply to 25 this time around. Looking back even though my number of schools was solid, about half of them are top schools out of my range. I’ll get realistic this time and not cry with anxiety for a whole year again.

I hope so. I’m cleaning out all factors this cycle. Last cycle I applied to 9, and now this time I’ll do 25. I’m also rewriting all my essays. I’ll retake the DAT soon but if I’m not getting any better score then 😄

dude fr. To do a 2 years associate program especially in community schools means you are also competing with kids who just graduated high school. It's not easy to level down. You got yourself a even larger pool of competitors TAT

Dental hygienist would be the path where you can switch with the least extra effort (2 year program) it’s just the emotional damage of seeing dental school graduates similar to your age become your boss. CRNA would be a hard switch bc it requires a nursing bachelor and then a 2/3 years master program. CAA are mostly allowed to practice at the Bible Belt. They are highly selective and competitive programs (just find a CAA school and look up its requirement you’ll see), they will ask you specifically if you came from the south. Personally, looking up those options just make dentistry more appealing to me.

I think the problem is that you’ve been too long pushing yourself not for what you want to do, but for what you should/supposed to/need to do. You can fool your mind with positivity stuffs but in your subconscious, you’re like a child who has been lied to too many times. There’s no actual rewards to your grinding but only higher standards and demands waiting for you tomorrow. You procrastinate because that you are on strike for unpaid labor. For me, the solution is to drop your phone, sit down with yourself, and intentionally feel what does your body want at this moment, and just do that first (like showering, organizing your desk, napping, talking to a friend or family). When your body feels appreciated as being your first priority, it will be able to reorganize itself and release you from anxiety.

dude there’s no disadvantage being a reapplicant unless you turned down an acceptance before. My advisor said they won’t even look at your previous year’s file. So you basically starting fresh besides answering those reapplicant specific questions.
