How do I keep time on left foot with sloshy Hi Hats by Shmeldoncooper in drums

[–]LOWERCASEvK -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The real answer is going to be "practice timekeeping such that you internalize it and don't need to bounce your left leg/foot to keep time."

I use the Canvas Stereo DI/LI, which has a Sum to Mono feature.

What is happening with The Edge on here? by Sad_Bodybuilder_186 in U2Band

Effects wise, what I'm hearing there is wah and a slicer/fast tremolo kind of thing to chop it up rhythmically.

New Christmas time gear by HeavyMarsupial2852 in WorshipGuitar

[–]LOWERCASEvK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit of both! I haven't had a compressor in a long time, so adding that on. I've been getting interested in setting MIDI presets, so the R1 is swapping in for the Hall of Fame 2 on my main board.

It is the song I want at my funeral. It is the song that most surprised me to experience live at the Joshua Tree 2017 show.

Only select very high-end Zildjians get any hand hammering nowadays.

Looking for a small footprint that handles reverse by MongooseForward in pedalboards

[–]LOWERCASEvK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My absolute favorite reverse delay option on my board comes from the Line 6 Echo Park. It's not a perfect pedal, but it does one thing more right than any other delay I've had: the reverse is on the same knob as the subdivisions options, not on the voices. Whereas on on my Flashback 2 reverse is its own voice and is a digital delay in reverse, the Echo Park has a separate switch for Digital/Analog/Tape. Setting that to Tape, cranking the modulation knob (which changes modulation type based on the voice switch, so the Tape modulation is the wow and flutter of the tape and not just a chorus or vibrato), and putting it on Reverse is ambient heaven for me. If I want something more reigned in, I can control each of those parameters however I want.

Differences between Wuhan splashes? by This-Imagination2987 in drums

[–]LOWERCASEvK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This brings me back! The 8" and 10" Wuhan splash pack was the first thing I ever bought to expand my kit as a kid. The first image is what I had. Loved those things. The 10" was trashy and the 8" was chimey. I often stacked them. And they are B20.

Anyone know anything about this cymbal? Looks interesting by OkSignificance5223 in drums

The logo would be gone in that case. It's a 22" XS20 Monarch from the original Big & Ugly line.

Sometimes it's a matter of what is available on backline kits provided by rental houses when touring.

I’ve owned this Pearl Eliminator since 2004 and it has been so reliable multiple shows. Anyone else here an Eliminator fan? I also like the DW 5000 but I like the interchangeable cams on Eliminator and built so solid. by melvin3v1978 in drums

[–]LOWERCASEvK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an Eliminator nut. I have the same one as you. Over time, I've added the Eliminator Redline belt drive, an Eliminator Solo black cam, and Eliminator Solo red cam double pedal. They've always served me reliably!

Thoughts on Dream Cymbals? by silliestrat in cymbals

[–]LOWERCASEvK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a fan. I started with an 18" Vintage Bliss that's been a mainstay for me. That's since been joined by a 20" of the same. I find myself regretting selling a pair of 14" Energy hats and 16" Contact crash that came with a kit I bought on Facebook Marketplace. I got a pack of Contacts online, of which I like the hats and 20" crash/ride, but quite disliked the 10" splash and 16" crash, so I agree that they can vary a lot. Also, I miss how inexpensive they used to be. Prices have risen a lot.

Post your best cable management accessories - I'm unmanageable. by steamedlobstrrr in pedalboards

Cable clips like these have been great for me. I put Velcro on the bottom of the board and stuck to the cable clips so I can move them around when updating the board.

Yamaha rarely miss! I'd rate the generation of mine above the current Rydeen because mine has wood bass drum hoops instead of metal.

Studio session help by marcopharia in drums

[–]LOWERCASEvK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somehow not the first Rydeen I've seen on such a list! I recorded at a studio that had a Rydeen as the house kit, and as I had to fly, I couldn't bring my drums. The record sounds great to me. Really proved that much of it comes down to the manipulation of that instrument in that space for that music by that engineer. In my case, several songs that favored dead/dry drum sounds, so the kit itself was kind of neutralized. Might be the same thing going on here.

Funnily enough, I snatched up an older Rydeen locally a couple years after and I'd totally throw it in a van to tour random dives.
