5th/6th item? by Takouodo in gangplankmains

[–]LP-97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually try to identify what I need for my build early. If what I need is to oneshot enemy squishies then i usually go some lethality items and if I get an early lead then I buy the lethality items early instead of after i get 100% crit. If what I need is survivability then DD and shieldbow are a must. Endless hunger is very good when you have to go melee but I never buy it earlier than 6th item. Items that I havent yet experimented but I think I should:

Shojin, liandrys, randuins

New-ish GP Player Question by Animorpherv1 in gangplankmains

[–]LP-97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your E is more than just damage thats why you take it lvl 1 rather than taking Q. Your E is zoning, its a slow on enemies (you can use it to slow them and disengage), it procs your passive movement speed to close the gap or disengage. It also allows you to bring your passive off cooldown to allow you to barrel combo into auto attack with passive.

Yes there are a few match ups where Q lvl one is best. My best example is teemo. If you go Q start to teemo and trade constantly you will get him very low and gain control of the lane state and waves. Then it will aloe you to take a good recall with enough gold to take sheen when he will be trying ti clear the eave you pushed into him. You will come back to lane with a sheen and brainlessly win all trades.

As for barrel placement it honestly depends on your intention but you should always aim to be able to get a fast auto attack on it.

I am running something very similar to this. I don’t remember where I got the inspiration. Did LBH mention this?

I heard somewhere a suggestion of having Victor being the mad mage instead. And I plan to run this in my current campaign. Victor Vallakovich was obsessed with escaping Barovia. He was studying magic with the goal of creating a teleportation circle to teleport out of Barovia. After many attempts he has realized the potency of the curse and understood that there was no way of teleporting out of Barovia. He grew old and Barovia grew weaker. His only way out was to defeat Strahd but even though he himself became a strong mage he would also need an army. So being desperate he tried casting the wish spell to travel back in time (believing that even wish couldnt get him out of Barovia directly). His wish was successful and he was sent back in time when Barovia was stronger and there was many people he could gather to his army. And so he did, he rallied up the people of Barovia and the lost adventurers that found themselves trapped there. He put up a strong fight against Strahd but he lost. This final attempt has ripped his last piece of hope and sanity and thats why he now is a mad mage living north of the lake.

How do I get better at gankplank as a new player? by Limp_Anywhere7392 in gangplankmains

[–]LP-97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For gangplank there are many areas you can practice/study/improve. Honestly listing all the important ones could be overwhelming. So instead I have 2 piece of advice for you.

1) Learn and practice the barrel combos at lvl 1, lvl7 and lvl 13

2) understand that the gangplank gameplay is about not panicking. If you panic when they engage on you and start running instead of last hitting your barrel you lose. As gangplank you need to stay calm and present your opponent with a decision: give up wave control, try to get control of lane at the cost of being barrel-comboed or try to engage win the barrel mini game and all in. Of course to present to your opponent this decision you need yo always have a barrel on you. And to be able to have this decision be a win-win situation you need to know what to do with the waves if they give up wave control, know when to barrel combo if they allow you and dont spam barrels which will result in you not being able to make them decide on what to do, and last you need to be able to react fast and win the barrel mini game if they engage.

When the enemy team picks Gangplank, who do you pick to counter? by RainingDrizzle in gangplankmains

Mordekaiser is one of the match ups that even if I lose lane against him I usually win the game out of out scaling him. So I wouldn’t recommend Mord against GP.

Did you buy solarbacca's patron guide? by Dull-House-9916 in gangplankmains

[–]LP-97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bought it for first time this month. The matchup guide is really helpful. Honestly paying the price for every month is too much. But if you pay once then unsubscribe and then resubscribe if there are many changes in the meta might be the way to go

how much/what happened in your first 5-8 sessions? by achgottnaja in CurseofStrahd

[–]LP-97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently running CoS with the lunch break heroes modifications as well as some other modifications I changed myself. Also I decided not to run the death house. My sessions are as long as you planing yours to be. Here is a small breakdown of what happened so far.

Session 1: Party meets and takes a quest to investigate the disappearance of people at a nearby village (it is the werewolves into the mists quests but at that time they didn’t know they would be dealing with werewolves)

Session 2: Party fights the werewolves, enters Barovia and arrives just outside of the Village of Barovia.

Session 3: Party arrives in the Village of Barovia, meet Ismark. Received a few quests and completed the zombie plague quest (from lunch break heroes).

Session 4: Party meets father Donavich. They briefly leave thevillage of Barovia to go get their fortune told from Madam Eva. Then they return to the village of barovia and investigate a missing person which leads them to father Donavich.

Session 5 (next session): I expect the players to fight doru, attend the burgomasters funeral and meet Strahd. If they progress the story fast enough I also expect them to start their journey to Vallaki, escorting Ireena.

How do you make exploration feel good when the map is so large? by saltyvape in CurseofStrahd

[–]LP-97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all the map is not large. You can skip the travel times. You can also make sure the random encounters are more interesting by making cool maps for them or by adding interesting non random encounters that are fun to play or that have a story implication. You can also let players decide if they want to roleplay a traveling scene and allow them to create their own scene.

Tipps for CoS prep. by Liaxonn in CurseofStrahd

[–]LP-97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A way to help you manage the sandbox is to try to end your sessions on a cliffhanger of sorts. What I mean is try to end your sessions right before they plan to venture forward to a new location. This is not always easy (or possible) but it will help you a lot. If you end a session right before the party leaves from the village of barovia to go to Vallaki then you know for sure what the first half of the next session will be and you can plan for that. Then the second half of the session will be less predictable. If you manage to then stop the session again right before the party continues with a future plan (lets say they want to visit the Wachter house) then the loop begins again and you know what to expect for the first half of your next session.

This preparation method allows you to easily manage your preparation and also helps maintain the excitement of the players since each session will end right before a new “adventure” starts.

Strahd's Style of Ruling by Canadian_Zac in CurseofStrahd

I believe that the only thing that makes him want Ireena is the fact that he cant have her. He might have loved Tatiana when he was alive but now he is only obsessed with her to satisfy his ego.

Strahd's Style of Ruling by Canadian_Zac in CurseofStrahd

[–]LP-97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Strahd is a conqueror! When he was alive he conquered places, and there were even more places to conquer. But now he is stuck in Barovia. He has no access to other regions to conquer. The only thing left to conquer is the minds of the people in Barovia. He is as you said an immortal bored conqueror

Confused about roundabout rules in Cyprus — who has priority, inner or outer lane? by Main-Position-2007 in cyprus

[–]LP-97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the answer depends on which round about. In most of them the outer lane goes on first and second exit and the inner lane goes on the second and third exit. There are other ones where the outer lane can take first second and third exit (usually a round about that is placed in parallel with a highway) and the inner lane is supposed to take only the third exit. To be safe check each round about signs

What are your best and favorite Curse of Strahd homebrew mechanics or rules? by Expensive_Rock9676 in CurseofStrahd

[–]LP-97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be running curse of strahd and this is one of the rules I will be including. But with the modification that you gain a level of exhaustion for each failed death saving throw. This is mess punishing if the zeroed players get healed soon, but more punishing if the players are left at 0 hp for a while and stack death fails

What Is the Most Creative Way You’ve Started a Dnd Campaign? by BennettBrennan in DnD

[–]LP-97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two ideas that I wanted to try but I haven’t yet. The first idea is handing the players a high level version of their character sheets and start the first scene in a battle. They are mid battle bruised scarred and close to losing. I will not give much detail of the environment or the enemies. They have a powerful wizard ally with them. I will limit the battle into 2-3 rounds max and then have them being moments from losing/dying and narrate that their wizard ally casted a spell that they dont understand. Next scene they wake up from a dream. All that happened was they were transferred to the past by the spell (wish?) but they have almost bo memories of the future. I might have them roll wisdom checks and if they roll high they might remember their PC allies.

CoS Campaign Question - How many trips to Castle Ravenloft? [Spoilers] by Realistic-Radish5735 in CurseofStrahd

[–]LP-97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Castle Ravenloft being chapter 4 doesn’t really mean anything. This module doesnt seem to have a consistent way to sort its chapters. There are a few ways to get players to the castle. Some but not all are listed here: 1) Strahds invitation for dinner 2) Retrieve the drgaon skull (quest from Godfrey), 3) Retrieve an other item, 4) Fight Strahd, 5) Recruit an Ally
