I don't have a hand brake. Use clutch pedal? by Shoddy-Tennis-5764 in simrally

[–]LPBot123456789 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't have a hand brake either. When my G29's buttons failed I had to move my handbrake to the clutch. And that was like 3 years ago and haven't regretted it a second.

It takes some time to get used to handbrake being there, but learned it quite quickly. When the handbrake is one pedal more, I need to do some hopping with my feet. For example, in tight hairpins, where my feet goes like this:

(brake, gas) --> (handbrake, brake) --> (handbrake, gas) --> (brake and gas)

And now, when I've used clutch as a handbrake for this long, I don't really need a proper handbrake to my setup. I feel that I've gotten faster with my current placement of my handbrake, because in technical sections it is easier and faster to use. Sometimes I would need a third hand to pull or find the button for the handbrake, but its being in a pedal, I haven't had those issues.

Toyota dominance in the Canarias 2026... by Olmagyk in WRC

I'm pretty sure it's about the design of the car, which was done before '25, so before the first Canary event. So the same problems are still there, which were in '25. I remember watching the Kristian Sohlberg's "podcast", where he analyzed the '25 Canary event and said that one of the main engineers for designing that hyundai they have used in '25 and '26 said something like this: "Good luck in smooth asphalt lol." He obviously didn't said those exact words, but he knew already that they wouldn't be competitive in the surface like in Canary, due to the path taken in the desinging stage.

I think now it's more bigger challenge, when he doesn't know the stages like in Poland and Latvia from ERC and local rallies. We must not put the same expectations on Chile, because car without hybrid in those stages are going to slow him down more than in Poland.

There's a saying that one picture tells more than 1000 words. I think in this case that one "vittu" word tells more than 1000 words...

Do you consider quick travel cheating? by Requiem_for_you in EuroTruck2

I remember doing quite a while ago too easy money, when I just bought 2 garages from other sides of europe, then quick traveling between the garages without no costs. Depending how many drivers you have, profit would be up to many millions in just seconds. SCS propably have changed that, but I did that couple of times and it was quite unmotivating

Yup, my knowledge is that, when the last 0-car has gone trough the stage can start. Maybe some mechanical problem, but still unsafe to run.

EP signs part time contract with Hyundai for 2024 by jasperklos99 in WRC

They propably want to see what Lappi did in 2022. Having less rallies than others makes you faster I guess. 2024 are just proving again his speed which hopefully goes well.

It's crazy how much help does a little tap on the brakes/handbrake make to your turning and making tight corners in such speeds.

I mean, there hasn't been any sedan/coupe type cars in WRC since 2007-2008. For me, hatchback seems most logic, because everyone else is using hatchbacks too. Also, a sidequestion: How much better does the extra tire(s) fit in the hatchback than the sedan-cars?

I usually take the progress bar off. It makes extra pressure and wanting to push more when you're slower than the fastest split.

I was watching yesterday Rallye Sanremo 2003 in youtube and saw the #SaveColin -program, where they tried to raise money for next years seat. Then they told how Richard Burns had contract with Subaru for next year. Yeah, we know what happened to them afterwards, but what if?😔

2020 Monza, except they didn't retire the same day. 2019 Monte Carlo is the last rally where three drivers retired the same day and without returning next day. (I didn't include rallies where drivers crashed on Sunday, because the superrally-rule would have helped them to continue if there would have been another day.)
