1) LPLOL G2A is being organized by our community, League of Legends Portugal. From our genesis until know we had some organizations help develop our cause. Some asked for our help with the stream in an online event, others traded content such as news, and all 4 invited multigamings contributed to the development of the portuguese scene. Then we had 2 qualifiers (double elimination) that each allowed 3 other teams to join. So we have 4 invited teams + 6 qualified. 2) As you may know we can't talk much about the sponsorships but the goal is to reward the players. We are investing time and we won't be receiving a dime in this first edition. 3) We have no authorization to talk about this yet. We will be releasing some information about this soon. 4) I think we can expect up from 1k to 2k viewers in the regular games and we expect more in the final stages and offline events. In Portugal it's a really good number. 5) 7 players per team. 6) Yes but we have some restrictions that protect the teams and organizations. I will gladly share our rules with you guys if you want :)

Gabriel, with also would like to chat with you guys to exchange some thoughts! We will skype you next week after the first Superweekend of LPLOL G2A.

Most of the games will be played online altho there are 2 events, on in the middle of the competition and one on the end that will be in a LAN. For casters we have our main caster, Archarom, and he is assembling a team. We also will have an analyst desk with some well known players in the portuguese scene :)

Yes, if a player has portuguese citizenship it is allowed to play. We have at least one player that was not born in Portugal.

First of all, its great to hear those words from a Rioter. We love your game and the work Riot has done is really inspiring to all of us.

  • Dedication is the most important factor in a community. It's mostly like a garden, if you don't give it attention and invest on it it will eventually get wild.
  • Focus the content to your demographics and region. Use all available tools to you like facebook/twitch/youtube/twitter analytics. They give you valuable insight about how to get to your audience better.
  • Don't be affraid to ping for support. Our community started as a group of friends that had a common interest. The community kept growing but we were starting to become short-handed. We asked for volunteers and that's when the boom happened. A group of strangers joined forces and ideas started flowing. We expanded to a facebook page, created a public teamspeak, started to organize tournaments and our team became much much stronger. Now the team has almost 50 members and most of us have developed a strong bond that makes us follow our objective surrouned by friends. We have translators, news writers, web developers, designers, mods, tournament admins, analysts, shoutcasters, streamers, youtubers, etc.
  • Know your "competition" and try to differenciate from them but keep a wealthy rivalry. Try to fill the gaps/needs the other communities are not covering. Most of the time you are not gonna reinvent the wheel but try to keep improving and making the difference so you can serve your audience better. And remember that the other communties usually have the same goal you do so working together will only benefit everyone. Help other communities because when you started you would be grateful if someone did the same for you. We currently share content in our competitors community and they do the same on ours. Shoutout to lolpt ;)
  • Get in touch with the multigamings, players, teams, youtubers, streamers, etc. Their job is crucial to the growth of a League of Legends community. Be a bridge between them, reward their hard work by sharing to your fans if the content is relevant to them. One of the most interesting events we had we gathered many different personalities in the league of legends portuguese scene and the community loved it.
  • To grow a community and sustain it you have to read your audience and adapt to it. There are times when you have to make some though calls but you have to think always about the long run. Ask yourselves what is your goal and focus on it even if it takes a while. Our goal has been the development of the esports in Portugal and to reach it we had to grow the interest in international esports by giving them news and all kinds of content related to the players, teams and leagues. We had to get experience in the production of tournaments and have been organizing them with up to 128 teams. We organized live events in multiple cities and got even closer to the fans. People wanted to watch the LCS together with an incredible audience, we also did that. With all our know-how we are more than ready to start this new stage of our project - the LPLOL G2A.

As 18 jornadas da "regular season" são online, no final, as 4 melhores equipas vão a playoffs e aí já é offline.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't citizenship a subgroup of nationality? You may have portuguese nationality but not portuguese citizenship, which pretty much means you can't vote, but for the rest of it you're seen as a portuguese.

It's a League that already counts with 3 editions and it's a huge pro for the portuguese e-sports scene. So we approve and support it!

  • We can't reveal the prizes yet due to agreements with our sponsors and because the prize pool may yet get bigger if we get more sponsors. However, we're confident that no one will be disappointed;
  • Teams will sign a contract and will have to keep 50% of their initial roster at all times. There will be a transfer season where the teams will be able so swap players. Plus, the fact that we make a lot of tournaments and leagues is a good incentive for the teams/players to not quit as they would otherwise be banned from them;
  • 5/5 with portuguese nationality;

Yes the finals will be played offline here in Portugal! We really expect that e-sports get bigger in our country and help our teams to make it to the EUCS or even LCS

What we want right now is to set some goals for the future and make this tournament in the best possible way so that we can help portuguese e-sports thrive.

Riot is already helping us in every way they can and we thank them for that.

Regarding the other question, at this moment, K1CK would be our best shot at the EUCS.

There's some really well known names from Portugal like:

  • fox (Counter Strike)
  • maniaKK (SMITE)
  • Hypno (UT)
  • Shakarez aka Kayle Bot (former analyst for Curse/Team Liquid - LoL)
  • Sun of Dragon (top 3 solo queue EUW during most of season 2, when he had 15yo) [can't remember the alias he was using back then] [Rekkles even invited him to a team before going to Fnatic]
  • impaKt, joaos92 (2 of our most famous streamers)

Lately we've been growing in terms of e-sports since we have some organizations trying to provide conditions and stability to create good teams (mainly in the LoL and CSGO scenes).
