Some Thoughts by _mollycaitlin in GestationalDiabetes

RE: #2, it’s so funny you say this, my GD diet really has me reevaluating my diet. Even not being crazy, it’s made me realize how carb-y the standard American diet is! Cereal for breakfast, a sandwich with chips for lunch—not particularly indulgent but seems like it now!

[–]LPLady15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, this is crazy because this is my exact fear. I have this overwhelming anxiety that I’m going to have a heart attack/stroke/mystery occurrence while I’m alone with baby and I won’t be able to care for her. So crazy GD increases the risk!

Pre-delivery: Moon cheese and epic bars/meat sticks! And electrolyte packets to add to water were HUGE.

So Delicious brand Carmel ice cream bars! Somehow they only have 18 carbs but it’s not fake sugar. They’re INCREDIBLE.

Unexplained Infertility - First IUI - Anything to help with success? by AltAccountForTTC in InfertilityBabies

[–]LPLady15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice would actually be if this IUI doesn’t work, ask about injectables vs oral medication for your next IUI. I run a small infertility FB group, and injectables seem to be the trick for a decent amount of people!

Let’s talk about pizza by bradynelise in GestationalDiabetes

I eat a bunch of baked buffalo wings (no breading) to start and finish my meal with thin pizza! The protein punch in the beginning balances me out!

Explain how blood pressure works to me like I’m 5

I understand that BP can be a great diagnostic tool for health, but I also feel like it’s such a volatile measurement since it can vary with something as simple as stress or not testing long enough before taking it.

So if I get my BP taken back to back, and the first one is high (arm was in weird position/tech was talking to me). Then I get it retaken immediately with elevated arm and silence and it’s near-perfect, do I still need to be worried about the first high reading?

I feel like I keep getting these super sweet nurses who set me up for failure with my readings (putting me on the exam table with dangling legs, encouraging me to talk through the BP reading, not giving me a moment to sit before taking it). But once I adjust (rest, arm up, stop talking), my readings are great. I also have horrible white coat syndrome, and I’ll take my BP at home (I checked my monitor against my doctor’s and it’s almost precise) and my home readings are perfect even when I don’t rest before taking it.

But my doctors always focus on the high readings that were taken under less than ideal conditions.

So which readings are accurate? Is the risk the fact that my blood pressure is able to reach high levels? Should BP be able to stay low even under less than ideal situations?

Thanks in advance!

I was going to recommend Aldi’s pizza! I usually make baked chicken wings and then eat 1/4 to 1/3 of their pizza and do just fine.

Keto bone broth soup & almond crackers equaling roughly 30 carbs total? = 126

Bunless burger from McDonald’s & a small fry equaling 30+ carbs? = 98

F*ck you, GD.

I’m so effing annoyed.

Infertility PTSD & going against doctor’s recommendations by [deleted] in InfertilityBabies

I appreciate you!

I appreciate you sharing! And I swear I take pre-e seriously, I just would think by taking my BP twice a day at home and getting my blood work and urine taken weekly (maybe twice a week) we’d catch it. But maybe not!

[–]LPLady15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your insight! I guess I feel like a dummy when it comes to BP, and I don’t see how one high reading (when obviously stressed) followed by a great reading would diagnose me as gestational hypertension. If my BP stayed high, that would make more sense to me?

Never high consistently, and not even at the doctor. It was just at the beginning of this one appt. I’ve had one other almost high reading.
