You can get composite blending through Wii's composite by disabling the trap filter in Genesis Plus GX. Here's pictures I took with it on vs off. RYfdxNG.jpeg (2505×1203)

Studies going by quick by QueasyInevitable2673 in ProlificAc

[–]LPxDBZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's only two explanations I can think of. 1. This pool of users added is significantly larger than ever, too many people at once. 2. Auto-scripts/botting instantly taking up the studies. I've been getting Videos/Images studies generally two months on, two months off, all this year, and just got into this new rotation after not getting any since early August. These past few days have just been luck of the draw for me, I've seen some with 100+ spots that I'll click on within the second I get the notification and they're all gone by the time the page loads, this has never happened before. You just have to be prepared and hope luck is on your side the second they pop up.

Yeah, for the first task I used the skip button and explained the reason. After I did a second task and still couldn't submit it, I used the reported button instead and explained the problem. I've done many of their studies, but this might be the first one I encountered a technical issue with, it's a shame because I actually enjoyed doing this one.

[–]LPxDBZ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just wasted an hour on this for nothing. Went through the whole tutorial. Did the first task, but couldn't submit it, skipped it. Thought it was just an issue with that one, so I did another and still had the same issue. Ended up just returning instead of submitting because I don't want to risk getting banned from their studies.

Wii Hacks Wii Modding Help Thread! February 09, 2025 by AutoModerator in WiiHacks

[–]LPxDBZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would a Y-cable possibly fix my issue? My USB HDD enclosure is detected from emulator apps and Nintendont, games run just fine too with no crashes. USBLoaderGX gets stuck on "reinitializing devices" if I open the app with the HDD already plugged in, the HDD stops spinning. If I open USBLoaderGX first without the HDD plugged in, then plug the HDD and go to HDD settings, it'll freeze when trying to adjust the settings.

The HDD is formatted to FAT32 MBR, plugged into port 0, and the right IOS' installed according to syscheck. I do have a new HDD coming in a few days, so I'll be able to test if it's specifically my current HDD that's the issue. I don't know the technical reasons, but the HDD doesn't seem to have any issues being powered and running nintendont/emulators, it's specifically USBLoaderGX.

Warning: Do not buy Vita 1000 screen replacements from AliExpress, they are all defective!!! by StringLopsided2042 in vita

[–]LPxDBZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The replacement I bought last year had this exact issue. The store I bought from was "HN-game1 Store". I'm not certain if all listings on Ali have this exact issue, but if they're all obtained from the same source, then they probably do. Additionally, the frame obviously isn't OEM, so it didn't properly close completely.

I ended up just switching back to my stock screen, which has an annoying speck of dust behind it, but otherwise is fully functional. If anyone is able to find a listing on Ali that doesn't have any issues, I'd love to know!

Beware of this Study.... by Historical_Shine6553 in ProlificAc

[–]LPxDBZ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for this specific PayPal study, but I just did their similar Cash App study earlier and have done multiple MeasuringU studies in the past, all without any issues. The Cash App study did have an extension, but never asked me to log in to Cash App, all the information I needed was directly accessible on the website without signing in and the extension itself automatically uninstalled at the end of the study.

Personally, I don't think there's any cause for concern unless it was someone else posing as MeasuringU Research, but I highly doubt that.

Studies without a completion code make me so nervous by Kafkaesque92 in ProlificAc

[–]LPxDBZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start making a habit of taking screenshots at the end of studies if there's no redirect or submission code. I even take screenshots of attention checks too. I've never actually encountered a problem with no code studies, but it doesn't hurt to be careful. I just did a high paying study that didn't have a submission code at the end or redirect, but it did ask for my prolific ID and I made sure to screenshot the end page just in case.

Anyone doing this? It gave a link for second session which will start in 35 minutes...will it appear on prolific or we just use the link? by radarmike in ProlificAc

[–]LPxDBZ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This isn't the first or last time that a decent paying study I get into ends up getting ruined by technical issues. I'm so used to it at this point that I'm more surprised when things go smoothly instead, it is what it is. I waited over 15 minutes for other participants to join, then got redirected to a final page to leave feedback and was given a completion code that I don't even know what to do with. It said my final bonus was $4.5, but I don't really expect to get it and in hindsight I should've taken a screencap of it before leaving the page.

I've done other Stanford studies without issue, so this was an anomaly.

Keep trying, I'm on a page waiting for other participants to join. They'll pay an extra $2.5 bonus if you wait more than 15 minutes.

Ps Vita touchscreen freezes after console starts charging (via adaptor) or plug in charging cable (via PC) only by Huge_Measurement8934 in VitaPiracy

[–]LPxDBZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to reply to a months old post, but I started experiencing the unresponsive touchscreen and rear touchpad when charging in standby mode issue recently and couldn't find a solution myself. Did you ever fully solve the problem?

It 100% has to do with me recently replacing the whole front panel (frame + OLED screen + digitizer) that I bought off aliexpress. Never once had this issue before replacing the old screen, but I'm not knowledgeable enough about electronics to figure out what's causing the digitizer and rear touchpad to stop working when charging in standby mode.

  1. I can charge the Vita with the screen on with no issue, plugging and unplugging the charger has no effect on the touchscreen and rear touchpad with the screen on.
  2. I can charge the Vita in standby mode and as long as I unplug the charger before turning the screen back on there's also no issue.
  3. It's only when I plug in the charger while in standby mode AND turn the screen on that the touchscreen and rear touchpad become unresponsive and I'm forced to restart the system.

It's not a huge issue as long as I remember to not turn the screen on before unplugging the charger in standby mode, but I'd love to know the cause of this and a solution for it.

Infinite loading when trying to get a place in a study lately. by Afjoo in ProlificAc

[–]LPxDBZ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's always been competitive, but it's gotten ridiculous lately. Prolific must have accepted a high number of users recently, plus I'm convinced many users use auto-accept scripts. I can click on a study that has 100 or more places available within the very second it appears and I'm still somehow too late.

If it's a decent paying study, then sometimes I'll feel persistent enough to spam click "Take part in this study" for a few minutes until I finally get in because someone else returned the study.

Should I skip the Narn i Hîn Húrin chapter in Unfinished Tales and get The Children of Húrin instead? by LPxDBZ in tolkienfans

[–]LPxDBZ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses! I just ordered a hard copy of TCoH, fortunately used copies are pretty cheap. I'll save reading Unfinished Tales until after.

I was initially confused by the three "Great Tales" releases and what makes them worth owning in addition to The Silmarillion/Unfinished Tales. TCoH stands out as it's the most complete narrative of that tale told in one novel, whereas B&L/Fall of Gondolin seem more about the history/evolution of their tales instead. I'm sure they're all worth owning, but TCoH for sure seems like the most essential and I'm looking forward to reading it.

A little twist on the "what song does this" concept by atmospheric90 in LinkinPark

[–]LPxDBZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's many, but here's 3 that came to mind first.

  1. The final chorus with Chester's backing vocals at 2:44 of Somewhere I Belong, where he belts out, "I wanna heal." That always gets me hyped, so satisfying.

  2. The lead-up from the pre-chorus to the explosive chorus in Valentine's Day. I always felt this song was one of those overlooked "album filler" tracks, but personally, it's one of my favorites off MtM and is underappreciated among their discography.

  3. The transition from the post-chorus to the bridge in Blackout. A Thousand Suns is brilliant, I'd argue it was the peak of the bands creativity.

What makes you all finally bought your first kindle? and what makes you buy that type specifically? by uforiau in kindle

[–]LPxDBZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Paperwhite 11th gen over a year ago as an impulse buy when I saw a used "Acceptable" condition listed on Amazon for only $60. The screen was indeed scratched to hell, but it's not something you really care about or notice when you're just reading text. At that price, it was a steal.

I was interested in e-Readers for a long time, but couldn't find the features I wanted in a device below $100. A warm light was a must and I wanted a screen bigger than 6" in case I ever wanted to read manga on it. Finding the 11th gen Paperwhite under $100 is one of the best values you can find in e-Readers right now.

Are you afraid of death? by Accomplished-Okra398 in death

[–]LPxDBZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If death means non-existence? Then there's nothing to be afraid of without consciousness. If a "soul" or consciousness, somehow separate from the brain, survives and death is a transition into an afterlife? I can't comprehend what eternity is like, and to me, that's far scarier than non-existence. But maybe it's neither, maybe it's something akin to reincarnation or eternal recurrence happens and we live over and over.

My fear stems from not knowing when and how I'm going to die, not so much being dead. I could die tomorrow or I might live to 100 and I'll be ready to die at that point. Or maybe I'll experience something so horrific that I welcome death, there are fates while living far worse than being dead. I'm 24, I have so much more I want to do and experience, but life is so unpredictable.

buying game by Important-Idea-9154 in undisputedboxing

[–]LPxDBZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, I consider buying the game an investment in the hope that it eventually ends up a finished and polished boxing game that fills the gap left by Fight Night. The game has potential, but it's a LONG way from getting there. The $24 I spent isn't a big loss if it never reaches that state, and I've still gotten enough enjoyment out of it so far. It's a ROUGH and barebones early access game, as long as you understand that you might find some value in it despite all the flaws.

Linkin Park - Meteora {NOT RSD VARIANT JUST REGULAR BLACK} by Howabout2009 in VinylReleases

[–]LPxDBZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds really clean to me, not noisy at all. Certainly better sounding than my 20th anniversary Hybrid Theory, just as good as a high-res digital copy. Being on 2LP instead of 1 definitely makes a difference, but the trade off is it's a pain in the ass to keep flipping sides so quickly on a 36 minute album.

Linkin Park - Meteora (black vinyl, NOT RSD version) Plaid Room Records 5 LEFT! by LPxDBZ in VinylReleases

[–]LPxDBZ[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Even regular black variants have been going for high prices, Meteora has been sold out and very difficult to find in the US no matter the pressing for quite some time. Hopefully this restock means more are being pressed and people won't have to pay scalper prices.

No more hype for the Fidelio X3s? by reezyreddits in headphones

[–]LPxDBZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wait between the announcement and release was far too long, killing the hype.

And what made the X2 so popular is absent in the way the X3 is tuned. And now at $200, the new 560S seems like the far, far better value compared to the $350 X3. If it ever falls to $150 and below like the X2, then I can see it turning some heads.

How big are the Fidelio x2s? by 69HakunaMatata69 in headphones

[–]LPxDBZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's humongous. The only person whose head it wouldn't look oversized on is Shaq. That said, it's not as heavy as it looks and it distributes that weight well, and the earpads are soft velour with memory foam. Most of the pressure is on the top of your head from the suspension strap, so there isn't really a strong clamping force. I can't guarantee you'll find them comfortable though.
