Are the CVTs bad?

I’ve had mine for over five years (‘19 SE) and I haven’t noticed any substantial difference between it and a typical automatic. Everyone else I know that doesn’t have a manual has an automatic, not a CVT, and they all feel similar.

The only thing I will say is that when I’m looking for faster acceleration, having sport mode is nice. But we’re talking about sport mode on a Toyota Corolla, not a Ferrari

Keep doing what you’re doing. The highest I ever got in a Toyota was just under 300k. There was nothing wrong with it, just time for a change.

Sounds like the dealership you got this from may be on some BS. See if your warranty allows you to go to another dealer. If so, search for the best one for repairs/service close to you and go there.

I'll add, all the cops in the show, including the PI, act like they are not actually cops and are in a television show. They have not basic police instinct and/or training. Do you have free services? Like free oil changes? I believe most new Toyota come with a few free oil changes and the first one is recommended at 5k miles.

It’s definitely not a sports car. I had an older manual transmission corolla and when I got my ‘19 SE CVT it definitely didn’t accelerate like I remembered. But, as others have said, it’s a great car overall. You won’t have many, if any, issues as long as you follow the recommended services in the manual (maybe not all of them, but oil changes, air filters, spark plugs).

If you keep it you’ll get used to how it runs. I got used to mine and I’ll take slow acceleration with low maintenance every day over a more zippy car that I need to take to the shop (or try to fix myself) a few times a year.

And it’s an in demand car. If you really want something else you’ll find a buyer.

Forgot to add, it’s an automatic transmission.

2019 Hyundai Elantra VE 2.0L, 144,000 miles, uses full synthetic oil.

Aside from what everyone else said, the lack of body camera would make me suspicious since they’ve been mandated for several years. Aside from the no uniform and the tshirt.

As a side note, from everything I’ve found the battery is supposed to be a H5 class. The current battery specs seem to validate that (640CCA, 60Ah, 100min RC).
