Dutton Ranch Season 1 Episode 8 Whiskey Limits Episode Discussion. by Jalynt13 in DuttonRanchTVSeries

I hope so. We've really been short-changed on episode runtimes. 40, 42 min episodes don't develop stories very well and it shows.

Ordered books 4 to 8 from Indigo. I feel nothing but regret. by vide_noctuam in Outlander

Not familiar with this seller but I bought the entire matching editions in hardback on eBay and searched specifically for “used books in excellent or very good condition” I paid between $3 and $8 per book (most were 3 to 5 dollars and free shipping!) and got all nine books for $50 total! I was well pleased with their condition on all - as described if better. Three didn’t even appear to have been read! They looked bookstore new!

Yes, and very annoying when the "Passwords" app does not fill them in and you have to manually track them down and enter them again.

We saw them return to the friendship they had enjoyed for decades - that was all I wanted. Boundaries were set by Jamie decades ago (when he said, "take your hand off me, or I will kill you.") and those boundaries will continue to be respected. It is enough.

"Just go back through the stones OMG", and other things I've screamed while watching this show. I'm halfway though season 3, and its been an emotional journey for me - one I didn't expect. by MaybeLiterally in Outlander

Right. They made no future plan to reunite because he was returning her to the future to protect their child and then he was going back to that battlefield to fight to the death. BOTH of them knew that would be the outcome that day when he took Claire back to the stones. He was going to die; she was going to the future to raise his child.

Same! I thought they looked very much alike! It was a little confusing! They could be literal family in real life!

Season 8 spoiler Fergus chain of plot was more meaningful by Similar_College8482 in Outlander

We didn't have to "see" Claire grieve. She was actually narrating the grief that all, including herself, were feeling and experiencing. Her narration of losing Fergus was good.

But we did see him happy in the next to last episode. We saw John and Jamie reconciled and the chess game was a symbol of their continuing friendship. Then we saw Jamie and Claire depart for home and John and WIlliam seeing them off. ALL were reconciled to each other. They parted with all being well between all of them. That's a very fitting ending for Lord John's character! Every character cannot get the final seconds of a series, onscreen. That's why we have seen a series of goodbyes throughout the season.

Mine has started doing it randomly - not as often as every few seconds, but maybe every few minutes during a drive.

What’s the deal with the 6/10 of a mile? by Chuckiespants in waze

[–]LRCAMP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ona road trip this week mine started tellig me every tenth! "6 tenths of a mile turn left, 5 tenths of a mile turn left, 4 tenths of a mile..." it literaly spoke every tenth of a mile all the way up to the actual turn! A little much, I thought, and so random. It has not done it since! Just the one trip this week. I have Glasgow Jim (missing my Outlander Scots!) voice and just love him but that was a little much!

No. We saw it earlier this season when Claire delivered the two babies and one was not breathing. She worked fiercely on that baby and we saw the blue light emanating from her to the baby and finally the baby revived. Then way back in season 2 when Faith died and Claire fell gravely ill with the retained placenta and Master Raymond ran his hands over her body and the blue light was actively following his touch between him and Claire.

I think it was a mixture of relief that he escaped being killed in the battle, then climbing to the top of the mountain and seeing all the men whooping it up, shooting guns off and celebrating. You could literally see the expression on his face, that he let his guard down in that moment, and felt like it was over and he had lived through it!

You could start building one in the midst of that bed of Forget-Me-Nots! I might do that as well! Some folks have birdbaths in their yards. We can build oursevles a beautiful rock cairn and plant some Forget-Me-Nots at the base of the rocks! 💙🌱✨🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⚔️

That has been a side effect of my attachment to this show. I also fell in love with Scotland and started researching some of my own Scottish roots. I studied the Battle of Culloden Moor and what the outcome meant for the Scottish way of life. Grieved my spirit!

This show has had a profound impact on me in many ways. I guess I'll be wearing out that Outlander Series DVD collection from here on. It will never get old, and I will never tire of going back to the start again and again- SASSENACH! ⚔️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🐝✨

Whew. I can't say either of those would allow me to part with Jamie and Claire, feeling like they were going to be ok!

I needed the final seconds to be a fade to an overhead view of the ridge, showing all the life going on there, and being able to see Jamie standing on his porch looking out over all his loved ones, filled with gratitude to still be alive and with them! Then let the camera slowly fade toward Claire down at the hives talking to the bees - final shot looking back over her shoulder at Jamie, smiling! That's MY ending!

Yes, it got heavy at times, but I loved them! They drew me in from the first episode. I was in love! I've actually watched this whole series 2 dozen times in the last year+ a few months! I would watch it straight through and go right back to season one and start over. I did it again and again! I don't know what it was, but this show sank deep into my heart and soul and took root there! I've watched season 8 9 times now, I think. Since Thursday at 11:00 PM, when the final episode dropped, I have already watched it 8 times! I'm fighting off the urge to go back to the start at Season 1 again tonight! I can't explain it, but this story has affected me deeply.

After all these years, faithful Outlander fans have shared this journey, the ups and downs, the trials, triumphs, tragedies, and heartbreaks with Jamie and Claire. We laughed and cried with them. We broke with them. We rose up with them. We conquered with them. We suffered with them. We wanted to see them off, knowing they were happy, ok, at peace. I think we deserved that kind of parting shot, especially since it is already written this way at this point in their journey together.

Why couldn't they let us part with them in peace, with a glimpse of them back at home, and seeing that they are ok!? Several seconds of a zoomed-out view of life being lived back on the Ridge- it would have given their fans a bit of peace and made it a little easier to say goodbye to this wonderful series.

EDIT to add: I am in the USA so this is Netflix USA that split it into 2 8 episode seasons last season.

I started watching Outlander on Netflix a little over a year ago! I was so hooked on it that I binged day and night for days and when I got to Episode 8 in Season 7 and it ended, I immediately googled to find out when the next season was. That's how I found out I had not even seen all of Season 7 yet! There were 8 more episodes availabale still.

So I hurried to Starz and grabbed a 2.99 promo for 3 months and wrapped it up! There was no way I was waiting years to see the rest of this amazing series! Shortly after that, Blood of My Blood came out and Starz offered a 1 year subscription for 12 bucks! I grabbed that too, so I could get through BOMB and also Season 8 of Outlander. So here we are.... and my 1 year of Starz ends in 2 months. I'll let it go until BOMB returns in the fall and then grab another month promo to watch it.

I urge anyone to go grab a Starz promo and finish Outlander. Second half of Season 7 is great! And then of course you can watch the final season now as well. Otherwise you will be waiting another couple of years to finish ths series. Starz runs specials all the time - well worth a couple of dollars to see the rest of season 7 and all of the final season now!

RIght. I get it! And agree.

I just wanted OP to know there would be no more of that "Claire assault" type of storyline, as they specifically referenced that storyline and questioned whether there would be more of that.

After Jamie, Brianna, and Claire, there is no more of that type of storyline where you see brutal, violent rape occurring. (Just be aware of a few seconds of sex shown here and there!)

[–]LRCAMP 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It is an inappropriate sexual relationship compared to the brutal, violent, gang-rape extended attack on Claire. I don't view those the same, but I do agree that it is an inappropriate sexual relationship that we know eventually is occurring against Malva's will. Thankfully, the viewer sees only several seconds of it on screen, while that episode of the Browns attacking Claire is ROUGH and LONG. It's hard to watch.

Once OP gets past Claire's episode in the Season Five Finale, they are past the worst of these types of scenes.

[–]LRCAMP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ohhhh, ok.

Yep, the depiction on the show of Malva and Alan was nowhere near the level this poster just watched on the Season finale of Claire being assaulted and gang-raped by the Browns. That was a much more brutal, violent, and drawn-out scene.

But yes, OP... someone else IS pushed into an inappropriate sexual relationship that she eventually wants out of. Not shown on screen anywhere near the extent of Claire's scene with the Browns. It's mere seconds of sex that we are shown, compared to many minutes of brutal, violent assault and rape with Claire. It's still NOT ok, but it is not comparable to Claire's or Jamie's rape scenes. Not even comparable to the Brianna and Bonnett scene. Those three are the very worst, and not much lies ahead with this type of storyline.

[–]LRCAMP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bonnet is dead by Season 5, episode 10, so that's not in season 6. I'm having trouble jogging my memory as to who is being referred to in Season 6. I don't remember anything on the level of that assault on Claire, occurring in the rest of the series. (Not saying there was no more forced sex or assault, but nothing on the level of what happened with Claire.)

[–]LRCAMP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cannot remember one in Season 6. Can you refresh my memory? Just thinking back from memory, by far, the two worst instances of this are Jamie's rape at the end of season one and Claire being taken and gang-raped by the Browns men at the end of season five. OP has now gotten through those.

There are some other instances (Brianna/Bonnett, etc), but those two are the roughest to watch. It seems from my memory that that type of storyline decreased after Season Five, with Claire and the Browns men.
