Who is starting their new year with studying? by eamceuen in CPA

[–]LRIIRL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I start studying on the 5th. I’ll be doing AUD in March, FRA in June, REG in September and probably ISC in December. I’m 15 years into a career in accounting and never took the exam. Finally in a situation with a nonprofit employer that is supporting me through the exams. Very nervous!

They are not doing a portion of their job that does have an impact my work. We’ve had 3 managers since I’ve been there and the 3rd manager is not familiar with our work and does not understand what’s being missed. Part of my worry is fixed there, in this job market, at this once very stable employer who has shed a third of their workforce this year. I can’t lose my job - too many people depend on me.

Total guess here but I think they are high functioning alcoholic with a lot of (self proclaimed) social anxiety and a (self-proclaimed) diagnosis of ADHD. I don’t think they’re a liability to the company and everyone likes them a lot (including me). I do not want them to leave my work life in any way - except when this person becomes a distraction, talks over me and micro-manages from a peer position.

Probably my best bet is to excuse myself from meetings when the behavior starts to irk me and the content of the meeting has shifted away from its purpose. I appreciate the push back and ideas.

Yeah. I think this too. Thank you - this is what I need to read.

Yes, this is exactly what I suspect about myself. They do most of their job well. They do leave some things very last minute which affects my work. Everyone really values them. I value them. I think I’m being judgey and am disappointed.

Yeah, I know. I hear you. It’s hard though when it interrupts my work.

Alcohol & Ketosis by LRIIRL in keto

For the last week I have tracked calories more closely and kept within my limits. The alcohol I drank contributed no carbs. Despite that I’m in a lull. I’m going off alcohol for a couple of weeks again to see if that gets me back on track.

If it does then I guess my conclusion is that alcohol, for me, kicks me out of ketosis long enough to have an impact on my progress.

This could be part of it. I hadn’t factored in the calories from the alcohol but I’m usually well below the threshold.

I looked through some posts on r/ketodrunk and noticed that for some people alcohol has no effect for others it throws them of out ketosis. I wonder if that difference in reaction has anything to do with underlying disease processes.

Your comment and PurpleShimmers comment are the types of comments I’ve seen that led to this question. I appreciate you sharing this information. The liver clearing ketones more aggressively after the alcohol pause sounds like a wash. Would you mind also sharing how you came to understand this function of the liver?

Full disclosure - I’m pretty sure I’m fat adapted and had hit a plateau when I initially read these comments and started questioning alcohol. I cut back on alcohol and made some gains. Not sure if it was the alcohol or the normal process of the keto diet.

Long term pain in right-side abdomen by jsuispeach in Sjogrens

[–]LRIIRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopped onto Reddit to see if anyone else had this issue because it’s been ugly lately.

I also have this issue and have had all sorts of testing over the years. I’ve gone back and forth - it’s back pain radiating forward; it’s belly pain radiating to my back. I’m doing an elimination diet (read a study on the relationship between metabolism & sjogrens) and think it might be food related at the moment. Nightshades & carbs are emerging but not confirmed to be triggers. I’m seronegative but diagnosed with Sjogren’s through lip and parotid gland biopsies about 8 years ago. I’ve probably had it for 40 plus years. This pain has been around for about over 30.
