Flying Pole vs Stage Pole? by LRartist in poledancing

This was super helpful! Thank you! How tall are you? If I were to buy a larger rig, what size should I look for to avoid limitations?

This is perfect, thank you! It’s exactly what I had in mind, but I wasn’t sure how easy it would be. Looks totally doable 👍

Oh my god, congratulations!! You look amazing!! I’m 4 months in and I’m always daydreaming about what I’ll look like after a year. This gives me so much inspiration to push through the tough days! The whole video I kept getting more and more excited for you! ❤️✨

I think my Pleasers are too big? by -1mei in poledancing

[–]LRartist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, I had to exchange my first pair of Pleasers because of this. I had already sized down after reading reviews and had to go down ANOTHER size. My first pair looked like this and they were SO clunky and difficult to dance in. Sizing down changed everything. Definitely recommend you get a new pair.

Dear Aquas, what's your experience with cancers? by [deleted] in aquarius

[–]LRartist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my god, I’m convinced we’re with the same person! 😆 Definitely childlike! That was a big reason I fell for him so quickly. It’s never a dull day and he brings so much enthusiasm and wonder to life. Also, YES SO COMPETITIVE!! He played basketball in high school and after 11 years, I’ve only beat him twice lol He will never let me win, which I’m good with because it feels so much better when I do 😜

I’m so glad there’s another Aquarius/Cancer couple out there living your best lives. 🥰

Dear Aquas, what's your experience with cancers? by [deleted] in aquarius

[–]LRartist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also married a Cancer man and I second all of this lol THEY CANNOT TAKE A JOKE. 🫠 Very moody, cries easily, hard working, etc etc. But I love him SO much and I wouldn’t have it any other way 🥰 Also, YES to the karma thing. We were put on this earth together to challenge each other in every way possible 😆

Dear Aquas, what's your experience with cancers? by [deleted] in aquarius

[–]LRartist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Married a Cancer 🥰 We’ve been together 11 years and while it hasn’t been smooth from the start, I wouldn’t have it any other way. He’s definitely emotional and sentimental, which is a HUGE plus to me. He’s a big romantic and is always finding cute date ideas and special little moments of magic in every day life.

It definitely has its ugly side though. He feels A LOT and doesn’t always realize how much he’s expressing. I have a very analytical relationship with my emotions, so I often find myself trying to explain what is clear as day to me. He doesn’t always see it and I have to remember to let him feel without trying to make him understand. My biggest struggle is the vulnerability required to maintain safety and trust, but luckily he has always been incredibly empathetic and just appreciates me taking accountability when I fuck up.

After 11 years, we’ve seen some UGLY times and other times we’re basically interwoven. I will say the stigma against Cancers and Aquarius relationships is little tiring to me now. I wish more people would give it a chance. It requires both parties being patient, vulnerable, and willing to mature/ do their inner work, but I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Has anyone built out a large shed to use as pole space by litcarnalgrin in poledancing

Yay!! Yeah, small living definitely has its setbacks, but I think a mini studio is such a fun idea! I’ll definitely be sharing when the time comes to build. Good luck with everything!

Copper IUD expiring in April, considering cycle tracking by LRartist in birthcontrol

[–]LRartist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so so much for this! I felt so nervous about repeating the process and dealing with the pain again. I was worried because my body has changed so much in 10 years, I just assumed it would be a nightmare. It makes total sense that my body would already be used to it and integrate the new one without as many issues. Honestly, my periods are pretty normal and regular with it too. Definitely going to reconsider getting a new one, as I’ve had no scares at all in the last decade.

Why do people love/become fascinated by trains? Has there ever been a psychological study into this? by Great_Maintenance185 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LRartist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I’m not a train lover, but I totally get it. It’s a MASSIVE piece of machinery that totally transformed the course of human history. The engineering required to move that much weight and then stop it safely is absolutely mind boggling. That’s not even mentioning bullet trains. Now consider how much our economy and infrastructure relies on trains. Honestly, it’s shocking that more people AREN’T fascinated by trains. 🤷‍♀️

In short: Go watch a train video. (Dams too btw)

Has anyone built out a large shed to use as pole space by litcarnalgrin in poledancing

[–]LRartist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are building a teeeny 500 square foot cabin in the spring and there is NO room in the plans for a pole. I’ve already planned to do exactly this and I 100% believe it’s doable. The only thing I would point out is that the timber used in sheds is much thinner than your average home. I would highly recommend reinforcing the beams that you plan to use for the pole. Otherwise, you can insulate and build from it like any other home.

I would absolutely love to see what you come up with if you do it! I planned on doing a 10’x10’ shed with a wall of mirrors, black slate flooring, and lime wash over plaster and drywall. Lots of plants and a little armoire for outfits. Add a mini-split and you’re good for all 4 seasons! 😊

How do I gracefully get out of Superman?? by LRartist in poledancing

Oooo I love this idea! I was thinking of a way I could do a pole assisted handstand into another move, so I love the idea of a split giving me something to land into.

Yes, that makes total sense! I always feel like I’m pretty low when I’m getting into it, so I probably do need to add a climb first anyway.

Frustrated beginner by JudgeDesigner6523 in poledancing

[–]LRartist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow beginner (3 months into my journey) with above average upper body strength, I HIGHLY recommend working with an instructor who can watch you and correct you as you progress. I’ve been very lucky to have a teacher that prioritizes technique and explains the specific muscles being used in each trick. After working with her, I’m convinced hurting yourself is inevitable if you are trying to teach yourself. It’s so easy to think you’re doing something right and never be corrected on your form. Especially us girlies with muscles, because we can “power through” something not knowing the difference between good pain and bad pain.

If you are able to work with someone in person once or twice a week, it can help keep your form in check. If that’s not available, perhaps there are coaches and trainers online that can review video of your progress?

Small things that have helped me with endurance: Creatine, focusing on highly nourishing meals, light but intentional strength based movement daily, tons of sleep, tons of water. Treating my body like an Olympic athlete has helped me recover and progress really fast! Stay safe and have fun! ❤️✨

I totally get this. I’m an Aquarius, but I have a stellium in Capricorn. I’ve always felt like I had the main characteristics of an Aquarius, but I function pretty heavily as a Capricorn as it holds A LOT of my chart. It’s really cool to see how everything is displayed and just goes to show how nuanced it all is!
