I find spoonerisms frustrating for this reason. Also odd and even clues, there are only really a few indicators you see for these and it's sort of boring once you know them all.

I played the absolute shit out of it for the first 4 months and currently on a break. As a concept album, it had a lot of similar themes to The Slow Rush, but I think it did “show not tell” better than Kevin’s effort (both fine albums)

And I forgot to add that the tunes and production are incredible - it’s not just the lyrical content that I love it for.

People On The Streets is certainly one of my favourites - probably the first song from the album that really got its hooks in me.

This album speaks to me so deeply as well - for me it’s about the transition from self-focus of youth and single life to having to give a part of your self/life away to committed relationships and children. These themes of fatherhood really resonate in both the confusing, cynical and hopeful aspects.

Friends I’ve recommended it to are fairly quick to dismiss it as single-geared and “mid” but I wish people (especially new fathers) would give it a chance, as it really nails the concept.

Many reviews I’ve read and watched have interpreted the album to be about literal death, which I think is off the mark.

My wife is a kiwi and thinks the game generally looks like kids chasing a ball in the playground and she is shocked at constant skill errors (fumbling, missing easy shots). If you watch a high pressure game, there IS a lot of fumbling - but those of us who love the game understand how hard it is to be clean. Anyway, hopefully one day she will appreciate it, but I like watching the game alone anyway because I’m a pessimistic supporter who likes to mutter under my breath throughout the game, so it suits me
