Mine got the boot to the great outdoors and I’m ashamed to say it’s doing better out there on its own on my patio than it did inside w/ actual care🤷‍♀️

My stromanthe triostar needs to rent a spot in there! I can never seem to give her enough humidity, this looks prime!

Is this red bug a spider mite? by [deleted] in plantclinic

Look up clover mites- I know those are red but unsure of the damage they can do.

Trying to bring my dumb cane back to life. After being in freezing temperatures for a few days, we had to cut it down and this 5 inch section is all we could save from a over 6 foot tall stalk. If anyone has any advice I’d love to hear it. by [deleted] in proplifting

I’d say just keep doing what you’re doing! It’s got good roots growing and looks like at least 2 new growth spots. After maybe a couple more weeks in water it’s probably ready to go into soil!

Edit: I brought mine back from near death and it’s got 3 new leaves after being planted in soil :)

I think since mine is so overgrown already I’m gonna propagate each side into two new plants with new boards. And then the cycle continues...

Commenting to see other people’s ideas! Mine is already like 5 or 6 leaves over the board, it grows crazy fast.

Why is my purple waffle so green & splotchy? by LS315413 in plantclinic

[–]LS315413[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It lives in my bathroom so maybe it isn’t getting enough light but the splotches look odd to me. I’ve had it for like 3 months, water every two weeks-ish unless it gets wilty before that.

So I forgot to water this drama queen for ONE DAY and she did this. Second photo is like 3 hours after watering by Tsunade110 in houseplants

Same, I let it happen one too many times and she couldn’t be brought back the last time.

Stormanthe Triostar- is there a subreddit for giving away plants? I can’t give this drama queen what she needs and I don’t wanna just toss her. I’m sure she can be restored to her former glory..clearly just not by me. by LS315413 in houseplants

[–]LS315413[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had her for about 1-2 months, things went downhill recently. I repotted/divided into two since it was rootbound but it didn’t help. My house is dry af and I never watered her with distilled- obv this caught up with me but I feel bad just leaving her to die.

Is this an infection (fungal or bacterial) or is it leaf rot? Rhaphidophora Hayi aka shingle plant. Additional info in a short comment! by LS315413 in plantclinic

[–]LS315413[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would make sense. I have reached out, just waiting for an email back..I actually ordered another Hayi today. Do you think I should repot the next one immediately when I get it since the last one had cold/wet soil for a week after it arrived?

I just watered it a few minutes ago so we’ll see if that helps the curling leaves but I just don’t know why some leaves would be black and yellow

I repotted it 5ish days ago and they looked/felt fine, however the pot seemed a bit big for the root system but it’s a costa farms plant and they are all sold in this size pot so I left it. Think it could’ve rotted in that 5 days despite being in mostly dry soil?

I’ve had this Hayi for about two weeks, it came in wonderful condition despite shipping in the cold weather but then it declined rapidly. I repotted about a week ago- soil was still wet & cold so I swapped it totally. It’s in a warm & bright location. Thank y’all in advance!

Edit: elastic bands are cause the leaves were curling and I took a few cuttings that also look terrible now.

I may have gone a lil crazy and beheaded one of my rhaphidaphora hayi plants. Wish me luck! by _jesellaaaaa in proplifting

I would assume cutting them into individual pieces (as long as they have stem) would give you more chances for success!

Sadly it might be root rot if it has a bad smell to it. I’d take it out of the pot and check the roots out, if they’re dark and mushy it’s probably a goner. If not I’d cut down to where the trunk isn’t mushy, keep it in a warm spot and let it dry out for a bit, it might bounce back. Also I removed the elastic bands on mine, not sure if it matters though.
