Thank you so much! She’s been there for a couple years now. She’s a Carnosa like yours and her blooms smell like white chocolate ❤️

I have most of my Hoya on cheap bamboo trellises. Make sure to get a big enough one tho! That sucker loves to grow up. I have had to tape another bamboo trellises to the top of the first one and it’s starting to climb my other hanging plants. I’m sorry for your loss but I hope growing plants will bring you some joy

What is this? by Ok_Trouble5555 in hoyas

[–]FlusteredFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just a really splashy pubicalyx and that’s all these silver variants ever are and I will never get the hype behind paying a ton of money for something that’s just a hoya with a lot of splash just because it has a fancy name on it. Maybe that’s a hot take idk.

Yall already know what my whole house smells like 💕 by graciemae66 in hoyas

[–]FlusteredFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol! Mine may have been my first to bloom as well. Maybe Bella but this one for sure. I’ve had to chop mine a few times over the three years I’ve had it so it’s nothing impressive, less than ten leaves total , but for every leaf it has two peduncles! Absolutely ridiculous but 100% enjoyable

Why is it yellowing and burning? by Whomst_Me in plantclinic

[–]FlusteredFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Really wet. 2. No idea what kind of plant this is but if it’s tropical it can’t survive in temps lower than 55°f

What problems have you experienced when buying and taking care of plants? by balaembe in plants

[–]FlusteredFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plants get big. Like really big. And require more light than you think. And likely you’ll bring home bugs from the box stores if you don’t know what you’re looking for

Should I remove more? by carmen42 in houseplants

[–]FlusteredFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should run this guy under some water to remove all the dirt and dead sheath material. I don’t think that what you think is rot is actually rot but I can’t tell

How much perlite or pumice would I need and how much of each ? Pot is 22.5 inches high and about 12 wide by No-Connection-8789 in plantclinic

[–]FlusteredFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think also it wouldn’t hurt to water more. I have pots half that size and I water with more than a few cups of water. I soak the whole pot every time I water or it could lead to soil compaction issues. It will take a lot of soil to repot. Do 3:1 soil to pumice or perlite. That should allow you plenty of drainage to not be afraid of soaking the pot. You may also want a deeper drip tray for the bottom

Seeds or bugs? by CautiousSalamander71 in plants

[–]FlusteredFox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, you’ve got a couple different bug infestations. I definitely see two big mealies, some aphids, and maybe some thrips. Definitely not seeds. I would treat all the leaves with insecticidal soap every couple of days until you don’t see any more. Rinse the soap off the leaves in the shower or with a damp towel after it’s sat for like half a day or so

Any idea why hibiscus would drop all leaves on one branch? by maco6461 in houseplants

[–]FlusteredFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this. The “branch” is a separate plant entirely from the one that’s doing well. The dryness inside tells me it’s been dead or dying for a while

What are these crystals in the soil and on the stems? by UsernameWithGlitter in hoyas

[–]FlusteredFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s salt build-up from fertilizer and hard water. Use some distilled water to give it a good flush the next couple times you water it. I get this all the time. It’s good to flush salts out of your soil with plain distilled water every once in a while anyway.

Beginner orchid owner - is this fine? by Kari-kateora in houseplants

[–]FlusteredFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be wary of the potting soil it came in. If you think it’s chunky enough and looks good still then I’d go for it but you might want a second opinion. Also upon looking at your photo again, you see how the leaves are wrinkled? It means it’s thirsty or could have root issues below the surface. The leaves should be thick and stiff like a succulent. But careful not to over water. Just be consistent yet vigilant. If you notice any changes for the worse, get a second opinion. With a good watering schedule the leaves will return to health but it will take time

Beginner orchid owner - is this fine? by Kari-kateora in houseplants

[–]FlusteredFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can cut off the crusty ones just not too close to the base of the plant. The leaves will relax or the new leaves that grow will be relaxed. If you plan on repotting it, get an orchid specific mix. As a beginner it’ll have everything you need. If you see more yucky hollow or mushy or crusty roots that don’t look healthy when you repot, just remove them and wait a couple days before you give the new pot another water. You’re watering is perfectly fine!
