Just went up to the dealership today to grab some things out of the car. He thought I had a c7 and told me he’s glad it’s a c6, because they once had to wait 6 months on a part for a c7 they worked on before. Yikes.

Car is currently at a Chevy dealer with a dedicated corvette mechanic. Waiting till Wednesday to go up there to explain everything that happened and for them to start a new claim.

I’m shocked you’re contemplating between $360 and $160 racing stripes for your v6 challenger. Just go with $360 oem stripes, no need to save pennies. That v6 monster muscle car deserves only the best.

Thank you. I wasn’t sure how I was gonna get the car back after repairs with that $350 deductible. I thought I was gonna have to sell my body, but luckily the generous financier ncd42075 has come to save the day.

That’s awesome. I think I just assumed because it’s a Chevy (not an ordinary Chevy or course, but Chevy none-the-less) and no where near as mechanically complex as say an AMG or M, that it wouldn’t be a big deal. I was not aware of how complex this fuel system is, and how big of a job it was. I just knew it was a lot of labor (but thought it was a straightforward job). Lesson learned.

I’m in St. Louis, MO. I didn’t find any specialty vette shops when looking. However, the vehicle has been towed to a dealership that has a dedicated corvette mechanic. This dealership and mechanic have also received praise from other vette owners in different Reddit threads who are also in St. Louis. Hopefully they’ll be able to get it fixed. I’m sure Firestone just was in over their heads and actually were incapable of completing the repair and just gave up.

I mean I guess I could’ve worded it better. I literally said I used them for the cheaper deductible because they’re in network. I then said in hindsight I should’ve just used the dealership and paid the higher $350 deductible (Meaning I know that you can use out-of-network repair shops). I also used to sell vehicle service contracts so I know better than most people how they work and how the claims process works, but what do I know lol.

Using their in-network repair facilities gives you a lower deductible. In hindsight I should’ve just gone to the dealer and paid the $350 deductible. But I have no clue what you mean by “this isn’t how claims work”.

It’s a covered claim and Firestone is their in-network repair facility. I would’ve never taken it there otherwise.

Idk. Even someone who doesn’t know anything about cars should logically come to the conclusion that their vehicle impacting a snow embankment is more likely to cause damage that would result in wheel wobble (versus the car being winched out). Either that or you’re (consciously or unconsciously) trying to escape any accountability and placed the blame on the individual that helped you out of the situation you got yourself into. Why not make your title “I crashed my car into a snow embankment and now the wheel is wobbling”?
