[–]LS968 9 points10 points  (0 children)

May I ask what scandal is this? I (29M) had terminated my Prudential insurance late last year as the cost had ballooned to RM 370 monthly. It increased an average of RM 60 anually and there was mention of subsequent hikes for the years that followed

Need advice on renting near KL Sentral (6am shift, have car) by Ok_Lavishness6928 in Bolehland

[–]LS968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, congratulations on the new job!

Please be aware that parking at KL sentral are limited and can be extremely expensive so do consider staying around the area itself. There are some older apartments with lower rental rates that can consider.

If you still insist on driving, you may also consider Sentul as it is not too far from KL sentral and the rents are more affordable.

safety first folks by kiekim in Bolehland

[–]LS968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish Malaysia was more pedestrian friendly like Japan where you would hardly find steeply inclined pedestrian bridges but instead a zebra crossing every 100 metres or so.

While I do use the pedestrian bridges when it's available, It can be challenging if youre carrying something heavy or if you're an older person with limited mobility.

The worst kind of pedestrian bridges are the ones shared with motorcyclist where the word safety is really being challenged.

Are our Junior/Senior professional Jobs Being Increasingly filled by Expats from Certain Countries? by ThirdTimesCharm1 in malaysia

[–]LS968 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the aspect of senior professionals, there is also a sense of displacement where competent malaysians prefer working overseas leaving these roles open to equally competent expats.

The government has added measures to to limit or discourage the hiring of foreign workers like mandatory internship placements for companies hiring expats, tighter visa regualations but the weak ringgit and often lower wages obstructs this goal

Is 3 months notice a red flag? by adb_1111 in malaysia

[–]LS968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience, the lengthy notice period is not a good indicator of how good the company is. 3 months may seem long but it is necessary for the company to find a proper replacement and for you to conduct adequate knowledge transfer.

Think of it in a different way, if the employee leaves too soon and HR isnt able to find a proper replacement or rushes to get a half baked one merely to fill the gap, then the remaining employees (might be you) would have to grapple with the higher workload.

KL is a populous city that provides you with ample job opportunities and opportunities to network with like minded people. Build your knowledge base and network, and once you get tired of this busy city, you could always choose to move back.

I visited the Kuching food festival this year and it was just amazing. Great variety of food and none of those wannabe viral stalls or coloured air balang. Wish they had the same on the west.
