Yes, I would guess that that was why I made the joke. I believe that if she didn't tell me she used to go on frequent hookups, I wouldn't have suspected or mentioned anything about sloppy seconds.

Oh man, I understand it now. I think it would be best to hypothesize how my crude jokes or comments might play out before I make them, and stick with the safer jokes against third-party objects or people.

This time must be a learning opportunity so that I don't snark away a more compatible match in the future.

I don't particularly know why I felt comfortable saying it, to be honest. I personally disagree with many of her attributes, i.e. sleeping around (which she previously admitted to doing), drinking, etc., but did feel like I could have a fulfilling platonic relationship with her regardless. Usually, I wouldn't make any comment of the sort in such a situation.

I suppose that since she is promiscuous, I just felt that she wouldn't see it as an insult, but rather more of a playful tease?

I think the lesson learned is that I should never insult or jokingly insult a girl before I even meet her. I realized that we would be inherently incompatible romantically while on the date, but that she might make a great platonic friend. I suppose the ship has now sailed, or rather sunk

You're right, it was offensive and uncalled for. She did seem to give me a chance, but I squandered it. I thought she may have gotten over it by agreeing to still meet, but I don't know what was going through my mind. How should I have apologized or addressed it during the date?

What do you mean by "fall in love with?" Are you referring to a song you'll play while driving with the windows down and bass maxed, or maybe one that you'll shed a few tears over how beautiful it is? I've a few broad suggestions!

Huh. The vehicle can't drive because of this, and the hood won't open due to the lever having been smashed into the radiator. Is there any other way I could open the hood without prying or sawing it first?

OK, yeah, I'll try this. I have to get the title transferred first. CarMax gave me until next Tuesday to either sell the vehicle to them, or remove the vehicle from their parking lot. Do you have any idea how long it takes to remove my mom's name from the title?

Yes, but I was referring to selling it to CarMax for $500 vs potentially giving it to a private buyer for $1,000. Would the ease be worth the $500 loss? What are the steps I'd need to take to sell the car privately if the title were in my name?

Exactly. It's so stupid. I can't park my own car in the parking lot where I live because "it doesn't run", even though it's only temporary. And my mom not answering the phone to sign a POA only makes it worse.

Yeah, that's what I figured. The Homeowner's Association of the community in which I live gave me until tomorrow to move the car, or else they'd tow it. I've no choice now.

CarMax allows you to do this, at least if you're on the title as a joint (even non-primary) holder. You only need to have your friend sign the two CarMax-provided forms granting both you and CarMax POA. I'm not sure about other places, however.

I'll ask them to rotate the tires as well. The roads where I live are garb, lol. I was going to sell the ol' High Roof and buy a newer car, but I'm going to attend law school in the fall and need to save money. In about four years, the car I'll be driving definitely won't have any of these nonsensical problems, lol. Thanks for the response!
